Hisec or FW will be ok cause it will be corps working together anyway. ^this I am okay with as well FF should be in every match; even PUB matches. You just need to right consequences for it to not be rampant. Just like Panetside 2 have warning timers on FF actions. If you accrue too many you are locked from the match and hit with a Security Status penalty. No ISK. No Skillpoints. That should stop most of it. So what happens to the trolls who use low ot no cost kits to harass, and kill teammates for the lulz? Especially the newcomers who're using low level gear, or trying to get stronger? They, the trolls, are not going to lose ISK, or they're willing to lose an acceptable amount.
Or, for the heck of it, they find someone with the most expensive suit/vehicle on their team, and just TK them for the giggles? Or coz they want the tank?
Basically people switching to low to no cost kits with the intent of just being a troll, or to fill their own petty wants.
Oh, and lets not discount the fact that we all probably do something that makes someone mad. We may not even be aware of it. Then boom. Dead. Why? Coz you annoyed someoen somehow. I've noticed people expressing a distaste for when teammates do certain things, and a desire to kill them just for that.
Oh, lets not forget the hyper compeditives that have to be the top of the scoreboard. They can sabotage their way up there, and probably lose it for the team in the process while not caring.
Honestly team kills will rise. You think people want to be careful? The people that try to box you in in pre-game lobby? The teammates that shoot you as it is for no reason? The people that see a person sporting a suit they hate, or possibly even a gender?
Never underestimate what a random teammate will do. EVER. Seeing the depths of jerkiness people will stoop to is what generally turns me off from PVP.
Honestly with the people that I know are in this game, I wouldn't want to lose an expensive kit/vehicle just coz of a troll/careless/angry teammate.
And lets not pretend people won't want revenge for being team killed. There'll be an absurd amount of infighting to the point it could become a non-team death match. Peopel will assuredly be pre-occupied with finding the person that shot them, and getting revenge.
FF needs to be optional at the very least.
FF might be fine for organized teams, but for public matches? No way.
Without the worst case scenarios (And it's safe to say the worst case scenarios I've mentioned are entirely possible) in mind, the best case scenarios are useless. |

Then they get booted from the match with no ISK / SP, locked from starting a new match for a few minutes, and get hit with a security penalty. This will stop a good amount of people from being stupid. There just won't be enough luls in killing some guy 3 times before being slapped with a penalty.
Could the above system be used to turn a match? Yes. And it should be able too. This is New Eden. Suicide Ganking is a viable tactic in EVE, why should limited team killing not be viable with consequences in DUST? So you lose a few suits, unless you're running full Proto (and why are you running full Proto in a PUB) the ISK loss is negligible.
Go into a match, kill people 2 times (Or just one under the limit), leave match, start another match, wash, rinse repeat. No penalty at all as the penalty system is bypassed. ISK's a useless penalty because people don't need to spend any to troll, and they can cost someone a lot of it. Not everyone has millions of isk, or the backing of a huge corp. SP? A person that wants to troll doesn't care about it. What if they've hit SP cap? They simply can't really get more. So why care?
What's a security penalty? Not that it matters too much, if they stop before they get the penalty, the troll wins. They trolled, and bypassed the system.
Even if they don't leave, they can have their kills and hit their prey.
Oh, lets not forget the cunning troll that'll weaken, but not kill allies. Deplete nearby ally's shield, watch them get killed, ????, Profit.
The psychological effects of being team killed by some random guy for no apparent reason can have an impact, too. If they manage to get you distracted, the troll wins coz you'll probably die more having to look over your shoulder, or go looking for some revenge.
Why on earth would someone use proto, or other high end gear in a pub match? To pad their stats, of course! Easy wins, redlining, rofflestomps, ego.
I've repeatedly run into a high ranking corp in pub matches in a squad, and the match is usually one sided as hell. To a lesser extent squads of other corps. So, yeah, it's entirely possible that peopel will use end game gear to stomp some disorganized newbies.
I'm not saying that a corp can't get together and pub, but really, they shouldn't be pitted against a bunch of newbies who're jsut trying to find their fun in Dust. This is another matter all together, though. |
