I believe that quitting a corp will get you back in an NPC corporation. NPC corps offer no advantage. Just look for another corp that you'd like or just try to take the lead by getting people more active, recruit, and ask your CEO to accept contracts or to give you a directors position. |

The ceo can disperse corp funds to people in the corp, the money is also used for corp battles. I imagine it will be used for more in the future. |

NPC corps (as Reimus said) are your starter corp, you will return to it if you leave your player owned corp and they cannot have corp battles or anything useful other than a shared local channel where you can get help from older players or squad with others.
Player owned corps can accept contracts for corp battles and join factional warfare etc. and can share isk through the corp wallet and will eventually be able to share items through corp hangers (assets). Future corp operations will include things like planetary conquest where you'll be able to place industry structure on your own controlled planet to manufacture stuff to use or sell for profit.
So there will be much more to do in a player owned corporation, but for now it's limited to squading with friends and corporation battles. |

Strickly the terms NPC and PC come from traditional pen and paper role playing games. The terms were coined by Gary Gygax in the first edition of Dungeons and Dragons in 1976.
NPC = Non player character (A character controlled by the "games master" or "dungeon master") PC = Player character (A character controlled by a single player)
While still used in fashion most non-nerdy types have found that yhe term has been adopted in computer games.
NPC basically means any entity controlled by the game itself or an entity excluded from control by the/a player.
Hope this helps.
