So I wish to play as a shield Heavy, but I keep hearing of the different races Dropsuits coming eventually. So the question is, wait for the Caldari dropsuits or grind the 690,000 some odd sp needed for B-series? I need help brothers!
Edit- I have type-II and A-series but I'm but sure if I wanna grind and get B-series only for a better dropsuit to be released. |

You'll have to dump SP into the new suits anyway. If you really want to give it a shot, then I'd recommend getting the shield heavy. |

I should rephrase, I have type-II and A-series but im not sure if I want to grind 600k and get B-series just to have a better dropsuit come out. |

Drop the SP for a B series. I wouldn't hold ur breath for racial dropsuit variants to hit the market any time soon. Obviously this is simply my opinion based on the wait for new content in the past. |

Forget the B-Series for now, hardly worth it for Heavy's anyway. I would wait and see what the new Suits are going to bring.

This is why I haven't put a single point into Assault suits yet. Waiting for my Gallente variant. In the meantime I will continue to buff all my passive skills. |

I wouldn't have even gotten A-series to be honest. By the time you grind enough sp to give you one extra slot, I can easily counter anything you put into it, because other skills are cheaper and give better bonuses.
In short, don't get B, it wasn't even worth your time to get A. |

As a heavy user I have only put points into getting me into a type 2 standard suit. The rest of the points are spent better on stuff like heavy sharpshooter, and increasing your armor/shield |

I'm in the same boat as you. I wish I know what it'll be like when pilot suits are out, so I can skill up appropriately |

While I'm not waiting for heavy suits I am facing the same problem for my builds. For me it came down to this... Would you be happy with your existing suits and fits until the next release comes out? It could be as soon as two and a half weeks but might be as long as two months.
My thinking about the time frame... I understand the team gets back from holiday on the 21st, a Thursday. Sony usually patches on Tuesdays in the US. The earliest Tuesday after their vacation is the 26th, only three working days. Most likely earliest patch day then would be the 5th of March. Fanfest begins on April 26th. If CCP waits until the last minute to put up the next release then it would come on April 23th. It seems unlikely to me they would release three days before the doors open so I figure April 16th is the latest patch date.
For what it's worth, I choose to save up my skill points. |

Grind up your weapons and shield tanking skills. So in other words, I'd wait (which is what I am doing for HAVs, grinding both tanking skills in order to see what racial HAVs they eventually add). |

Yeah, the Type-B really isn't worth the ISK. I'd recommend getting other passives up, like mechanics or sharpshooter.
Oh, and make sure you max out weaponry. |

Seeing as how I have spent the last 4 builds in a b series or proto heavy I would say do it. The extra low slot combined with a high cpu skill will allow you to run shield regs and or 2 5hp armor reps. Im close to my proto and I love my B series go for it man get it out of the way. |

if it helps,
1: only Assault suits are getting racial variants in the next build. 2: Proto suits in general are pretty amazing. 3: no one but CCP knows how skills will be handled. for all we know, (and I hope this is the case) there will be one skill for each class, then perhaps a new skill for each race. either way, it may take a month (less if you play often + have boosters) to get into another proto suit, worst-case-scenario.
did I mention proto suits are amazing? they are. |
