I have a bit of a conundrum for all you wonderful training ground peoples.
I am in a corporation with a handful off my real-life buddies (there's about 10 of us), and we're gearing up to run corp matches. Now we have 2-3 scouts, 1 dropship pilot/vehicle driver, 1(sometimes 2) logibros, and the rest run as assault. We have zero heavies currently.
I run as one of the scouts (shotgun). I am the low-man on the totem pole as far as skill goes, so I have offered to be the fluid guy. Which role would be most beneficial to our corp team, for me to pick up and learn the skills of a Heavy, or for me to strap on a Logibro (which I have some experience with)? I enjoy them both about equally, so I really don't have a preference (partly why I can't decide). I just want to help our team. We're not going to be great, but we should at least be somewhat competitive.
Thanks all. |

I'd say a heavy. The AV brought in by a forge gun is incredibly valuable, and a HMG brings great cover fire for your assault buddies. |

I'd definitely say Heavy. They are so fun, and the HMG will provide cover as Halador said above me. Logistics guys are definitely needed as well, but they can kind of be made up for by having assault guys carry certain things in their equip slots. |

Both?
You can function as heavy support with both.
Forge guns, hmgs and mass drivers fill incredibly useful niche roles. Not assure what you mean by skill, but by playing smart and in underutilized niches you can be far more valuable team-wise and in personal gain (wp and k/d) than people with excellent trigger fingers and an assault rifle.
With both hmgs and mass drivers you can provide valuable covering fire (mass driver nades also obscure vision) and kill assists always, flush enemies out of cover and get some mean destruction in scenarios where they shine.
Can fill additional support with remote explosives, flux grenades, av grenades Heavies are also good at being a meat shield for allies low on health or allies being revived.

I would say heavy and then squad up with two logis and then assault or scout. Use the heavy as the brunt, meat shield, logis to repair and reload. the assault or scout to flank. Heavies are bullet and vision magnets for blueberries... a strong heavy that stays and defends one portion of the map will continue to draw them in, especially once folks hear the spool up of the HMG. Don't go wading into the firestorm or into the open and you'll live quite a bit longer too.
With 10 folks I'd recommend at least 2 heavies somewhere in the mix so two squads can form and run. Two supported squads running and working together are pretty to watch and frustrating to play against. |

Based on the squad list you've provided a Heavy is your best option. Your Logi's will be able to do far more for your team with a Heavy on the field and you'll be filling a role which increases diversity in team composition (very valuable).
As a tip, make sure that you have a Logi in your squad who runs repair tool, injector, and hives. Also focus your Heavy build on Armor (this will provide your Logi with more WP which mean more OBs for your squad, and you'll have more overall HP, which since you have a Logi will regen).
Squad (objective defense, cap a point and dig in don't let the opposing team pull you off your point) Heavy Logi Assault Scout or Assault
Hope some of that is useful to you.

How many of you are specializing in HAV driving?
If this build is anything like previous builds then the corp that can keep their HAV's on the field wins. If you have a few HAV drivers then you definitely need some heavies with forge guns.

We actually don't have any HAV drivers. We don't have anyone that wants to spend that much ISK and SP for strictly corp battles. We 99% of the time just run as groups of 2-3 in pub matches because we don't all have a consistent playtime, but would bunch up when needed for a corp battle. |

Doom on you.....
Seriously though if your not planning to field HAV's you better have a really good plan to remove them from the field.
Hmm..I see a lot of Gunnlogi's right now. If most of you were sporting flux grenades with a few av grenades sprinkled in. Two well placed forge gunners. Possibly you won't get decimated. |

Flux grenandes with a mass driver can take down vehicles pretty quick too. Also, you then don't have to spec AV specific. I know it's not the ideal setup but the added mid-range/splash damage makes a squad pretty brutal. |
