I am a dropship pilot and am fed up with the bones dust has thrown us. The ships need some work, here are my suggestions that I would LOVE to see in the game. Pilot guns: I can fly but I can't shoot! The pilots need to be able to preform strafing runs and shoot ourself instead of having to turn broadside and let someone else do it. Manual bay doors: this way we can let passengers shoot or jump out and can close them if the fire gets to thick. Lock on alert: I need something to tell me if I'm fixing to be shot at. Flairs: if I am shot at there's nothing I can do about it. |

You do have manual doora square opens and closes them but they can't shoot out of them yet.
Nor does it tell you if they are open or closed.
Guns... iffy your a troop transport not an gunship most games with troop transports dont give the pilot weapons (in my experience)
If you want to fly around and rain death save up sp for when the fighters and gunships are introduced. They are attack craft not transports. So you as the pilot will have guns and such.
A lock on signal would be useful since you are a wet paper bag with engines attached.

Pilot operated weapons probably won't ever be on dropships. There are other aircraft coming that will have them, I'm sure, but there's not reason to put them on dropships.
The rest is already in the pipeline, in some form or other.
I can't even imagine the kind of electronic warfare options we're going to end up with, at least some of which will serve to stop lock-on weapons. Basically, the same operation as flares. Presumably this will come with lock on warnings. I'm more interested in some sort of forge gun warning, personally. Those things are far more dangerous than swarm launchers.
You gotta bear in mind, aircraft aren't a super high priority in a game like this. They have a lot of **** to get working, but once they do we're gonna get some cool stuff. |

Agreed about the lock on warning and flares. and give us sp for doing dropship stuff. |

It's a dropship, not a gunship. Gunships and fighters will be coming later, so eroding the gunship's role isn't a good idea.

Agreed. Dropships should have some ability to protect the people inside.

I don't think this is strictly necessary, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I absolutely agree that aircraft should have the ability to defend against swarm launchers, although I think it should be a module rather than an inherent ability. |
