Playing as an logi, i hate the way i have to select my equiment items ingame.
Already when just having 2 equiment slots, those 2 items show up on the R2 wheel on 4 and 5 o'clock, making it very though for me to hit the uplink slot instead of the other equiment slot, like injector.
To revive someone, i pretty much have to take cover, stall for a few seconds to equip me injector instead of something else. I can not really make this on the fly, mostly not equiping anything or the wrong item. How often did i try to repair a team mate, just to swap to me gun and shoot him instead.
I request different locations on the R2 wheel of all those equiment items. like 3, 6 and 9 o'clock.
Actually since logis just carry ONE weapon we would not even need it on the R2 wheel at all, allowing the 4 equiment slot dropsuit to have the 4 items on 12, 3 6 and 9 o'clock. I can easily switch back to my weapon by tapping R2, not needing it to be shown on my R2 wheel at all.
I searched the forum first, did not get any results for 'r2 wheel equiment'. If there is any other thread about, it would be nice to make me aware of this.
Maybe i'm just a spastic, unable to correctly use the R2 wheel, still it would be nice to see this implemented. |

There are other threads on this topic, but no, you are not spastic.
I too have fired my MD at a squad member rather than trigger the rep tool. I've pulled out my needle when I've meant to drop a nano-hive, and I've been killed holding a rep tool when I meant to have my weapon out.
The wheel is slow and cumbersome. it's something I expect to be designed by someone more familiar with strategy games than a FPS. |

Also, the squad commands being controlled the same way make it even more annoying. Don't know how many times I've issued a rally command when I was trying to switch to my gun to defend myself. That pisses me off every time. |

I like the wheel.
The location on the wheel corresponds to the slot you put it in. Having to go 3 6 9 12 would in my opinion make it harder.
I can switch from needle rep and hive much faster with the current config. And in combat every second counts ill often while in a fire fight switch from weapon to hive drop it pull and start repping before the enemy has lost shields so I say nay current system takes mad logi skillz. But is manageable once lag clears up it will begin to shine.

This equipment wheel was a bad idea by CCP. Their entire interface in the game needs work. It's just too slow. |

A controller-only alternative that preserves the wheel could be to... 1: Press and hold R2 2: choose the three equipment slots with the direction keys - left for the first slot, down for the second, right for the third 3: choose the weapons with the PS keys - square for the primary weapon, x for the secondary weapon 4: Use the right joystick as we do now if you want to. 5: Release R2 6: Tap R2 switch between primary and secondary weapons or switch from equipment to primary weapon |

I know your pain, OP. 'z annoying being a logi some times.
I think if it were more like an hold r2+ up down menu select it'd work better. The wheel feels off. It's assuredly not something you wanna wrestle with in the heat of action.
It'd prolly be broken if we didn't have to select it at all, and instead have a contextual action to revive people. then agian it can be hard enough just to get to people at times.
Mapping it to an unused directional button might work, I think. |
