Okay so I am very very tired of pairing up with noobs and I don't mean one noob on our team who everyone despises I mean a complete team of noobs who are all gross to me. I will end up with 5/6 on the kill board at the end of a game and only 750 war points and some how be number one on my team about every time. I am never given any real chance in a game because the noobs are literally bringing me down they don't cover me they swarm around the same objective they don't team and they don't capture points. They have no real since of what they're doing in the game and I quite honestly don't want to play with them. My first initiative in Dust is to watch my ally's back especially if I am safe at a distance it instantly hits my mind to try and save my ally. Why can't these noobs do this for me why am I always getting blasted away by 2 heavies a logistic and an assault class while my ally's just stand there like they didn't see what had just happened. This especially applies in tanks and how little my allies actually support me in a game.
So this is the solution I had created a thread on a virtual training simulator earlier for noobs only when they reach say 1 mill skill points they would be kicked from the training simulator. Of course I still wouldn't want a player straight out of a training simulator in a game with me so I think CCP needs to introduce skill tiers.
(when joining a game players would enter a tier) (if joining from a squad the average number of sp would be taken and they would be applied correctly) (so if 1 person had 500k another 750k another 800k and lastly 1 mill the average wold be around 700 - 800k and they'd be assigned to a game)
Training Simulator 500 - 1 mill points Tier 1 - 1.01 - 2 mill points Tier 2 - 2.01 - 3 mill points Tier 3 - 3.01 - 4 mill points etc... etc...
this would help balance teams more and make it so you didn't end up with a complete _ _ _ _ fest every game. |

Do you realize that some maps are unbalance ? depending on which side of the map you start the battle, you team is in a disadvantage from the beginning. What you call "noobs", may be people that knows this, and they don't want to waste ISK in a lost battle. Hell.... i starting to do that my self, and i only been playing for just over 2 weeks. |

Well it's a BETA. ANY game will have a period when people don't have a clue what they are doing. We have all seen it. First everyone is running around like crazy and shooting into thin air and so on. Then after a while they learn the maps, the controls and they pretty much start to get the hang of it.
Of course if you are so good...then shouldn't you be getting insane amount of points from kills? Oh wait... |

Expect random pub matches to be full of ppl that seem to have their own agenda. I maybe one of them, but if I notice the squad leader is marking objectives, then I'll spend more time going after that rather than other things. Not much can be said about the skill of a person. It's a learning process that everyone has to do. Some never learn, like me, i've just adapted and figured it into a cheap fit.
A better matchmaker would be really nice, but I still don't think we have the player count to do anything complex. I don't want to wait 20 minutes for a match to start or have matches start without a full team. And who knows, maybe there is a really cool matchmaker algorithm, but since there isnt a huge number of players online, we rarely get to see it. |

ur an idiot and obviously a noob i have been playing since early beta. And that is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my entire life give up because your positioned one side of the map thats something someone mentally ******** would say. Maps are not unbalanced ur dumb for saying that hope you get some actual skill soon |

yes I agree and I hope they bring in the tiers anyways they needa make games more balanced simply saying their is a learning curve isnt fair to more experienced players whod ont wanna loose their expensive suits. I dont like having to use a free suit just because i cant get any support from my team. Thanks for the comment tho |

That comment right there, shows that you are most likely a 17-18 years old kid, that don't fully understand this game.
Dust 514 is as much about "Skills" as you say it , as it is about Strategy, Risk assessment, and financing your merc career.
If i know i going to lost a battle, the risk assessment is to high, so i change my game style to fit that. |

I like how your thinking, but I would prefer it based on the meta level of the gear you're using. We all get to choose our "favorite" Dropsuit in the fitting screen, and while this does allow us to choose how we appear to other players in the Warbarge, it could also help with match making.
So if the suit you've "favorited" has an average meta level of say, 3, then you would only be placed in matches with people who have the ability to run the same gear. This would be based on the average meta level of you gear, and not on the individual peices. You could also palce a restriction that says that players can't run higher level gear during that match. A player should always be allowed to run lower gear if they choose, but they can't come into a meta level 0 match (brand new players most likely), with all level 5 gear.
So you could have it Tier this way:
Tier 1: Meta Level 0.0-0.9 Tier 2: Meta Level 1.0-1.9 Tier 3: Meta Level 2.0-2.9 Tier 4: Meta Level 3.0-3.9 Tier 5: Meta Level 4.0-4.9 Tier 6: Meta Level 5
So players might have the skill level to advance to the next Tier, but might still have to wait while they grind the ISK to purchase the higher weapons and equipment neccessary to challenge the higher Tier players |

I have to admit, if it's down to just a few kills for my team to lose and we are getting beat badly I won't respawn to save the extra ISK. I don't know if that makes me a bad teammate or not, but part of this whole thing is that it is an MMO, so managing your merc for long term gains is part of it. It will be interesting to see as this progresses how much the needs of individual mercs will affect the needs of the team and the team goals. It could make for some interesting virtual moral choices. |

some of us are not here to win, just to have fun blasting away, i do focus on objectives, but i like being the defensive guy.

The sides of the map are different but equal. I've played every map to know that each side has a distinct advantage in a certain aspect. |

Okay so i feel this thread got off topic mainly with the troll replies that came in first. This was an idea/system to protect more experienced players and noobs alike that's why I was upset that people were bashing me about not understanding the game all though I obviously do. So here is some more explaining to the people who wanna try and bash me with out knowing my actual game experience or skill level.
This system is to protect noobs it places them in a game with other noobs as I said originally
tier 1... 500 to 1.5 mill skill points tier 2... 1.51 to 2 mill skill points etc etc
so I would like to here the actual complaints of doing this why is giving players a more balanced game in which they run and attack other players at there same skill level unfair and why does it have anything to do with my skill level.
Secondly it will protect noobs I have run over something like 10 - 20 mercs who simply didn't understand a swarm launcher and a forge gun and the only other experienced player on there team was someone in a heavy suit with a heavy machine gun I am sure he was frustrated. I have felt the same way before being on a team who didn't quite understand the game yet of course this is acceptable I mostly get number one on my team anyways but I feel more experienced players could be protected with tiers.
Yes i understand the learning curve, no I am not some trolling noob, yes this is a forum to balance matches and respect more advanced players and newer ones alike. Any troll comments will be replied to negatively if you bash me why are you so mad that I am bashing you back. |

I feel this would not quite work because while dust is about skill it is also about game experience a player advances his skills in a first person shoot through practice making it so that he can take out someone in a better suit. What if this experienced player simply equips low level grade suits to get in lower meta tiers. For example he deletes all his expensive suits and equips only a standard suit so he can own noobs. The sp system is something players can't cheat they are in fixed matches and squads get an average so its pretty fair. But thank you for actually helping this idea grow and not posting trolling comments. |

The reason I went with Meta Level is exactly that. Let me explain. Yes you will have players that will run lower level suits and go pubstomping. Griefers are allowed in the EVE universe, and this would just be Dust's version of that. Secondly it prevents higher level players from coming in and helping newer players out. Corps like Dust University, who is exist almost solely to help out new and inexperienced players would no longer be able to offer their seveices as they would be prevented from entering matches with their "students". Corp Recruiters, who are always on the look out for fresh blood, wouldn't be able to check out the in coming player base.
Basing it SP limits players, and puts the entire system in the hands of an AI. Basing it on Meta Level puts the control in the hands of players, where it should be.
If I have a friend who wants to play Dust and joins right now, using your system, I wouldn't be able to enter matches with him, show him the ropes or really answer any questions he might have during a match. That kind of silence will make the learning curve of this game even more frustrating to newer players. Basing it on Meta Levels allows the helpful players we currently have to keep doing what they're doing, and keeps the more experienced Mercs (who don't care about newberries) fighting players of their own caliber. Which is where they want to be anyway. |

I actually like how you put it, yes there are griefers so allow them, this is a game this is where they are accepted. However about not being able to play games with your newbie this is not true because it would still find the average of both of your skill points. Yes playing with a super experienced player would be a lot worse because it would up the average quite significantly but still put the players in both a balanced match. |

^ And then you run into the same problem you have right now; inexperienced players being curb stomped by more advanced players running higher level gear. Let's say that I have 5 mil SP's (I don't, but let's say that I do), my friend comes in as a brand new player with 500K SP's. That put's the average at 2.75 Mil SP's, which is 2 Tiers higher than where he should be starting off at.
The Meta Level system sets the bar on the lower level player, not the higher. So, same situation, only this time I'm running with starting gear just like he is, and most of the competition is on approximately the same skill level as my friend. This would help cut the learning curve a bit for those with mentors in the game. |

I, myself, favor a bit of adaptability. Rather than pigeon holing myself into one role at the start, I've diversified a little bit, just a little. So AR to AR, you'll most likely own me, but then, I can change up and own you with an HMG or Sniper rifle. Perhaps even with my FG.
The fallacy in your reasoning is thinking the problem is related to SP earned when it's really with the play style of the people on your team. That's why when I go alone onto a pub match I go expecting to get little to no support. As a primary heavy, I can't count how many times my team mates have just taken off leaving me behind because they don't want to wait for the slow heavy. |

Sp mostly defines a player, higher sp players having better suits more adaptability and game experience that is why i why tier by sp. Yes some higher sp players can be pretty bad but most have more game time higher skills and will need to balanced in higher tiers. |
