In before some IMP says, "stop crying, pub matches mean nothing"
EDIT: Sorry, that is an inaccurate quote, let me fix it. "stop crying, pub matches mean nothing lol." |

Barnabas Wrex wrote:What's worse? someone being AFK or a group of blue berries actively trying to lose the match for everyone else? The blueberries aren't actively trying to lose. And even if they are inadvertently causing our team to lose at least they're playing the game and trying. MCC campers are just their for free ISK and skill points.
And this is one of those reasons why corp battles are so stupid in Dust right now, they are dominated by the corps who hit the cap each and every day (now week) partially by just sitting in pub matches doing nothing |

I've been DC'd at the end of matches several times in a row so
1) CCP owes me my SP
2) No one cares
3) They made the mechanic
1) Tough luck bro
2) Obviously by the amount of times this subject has been brought up, people care
3) You honestly think CCP was at the design table and said, "Hey, let's make it possible for people to get extra ISK and SP for doing nothing in a match!" You're performing an exploit and you know it, you just don't care.

And this is what is wrong with a good chunk of society today. "Don't blame me for not having any integrity, blame the establishment for making it possible for me not to have any integrity!" And this is whats wrong with the average gamer today. Don't take advantage a situation and maintain integrity in something that has no value beyond entertainment. If your sense of pride, worth, integrity, honor, or anything else besides obtaining a joy and entertainment than perhaps its you who needs to reevaluate themselves. Hey if you have an AFK farmer and it bothers you that much you are free to leave that match. Many wont and some will look at it as a challenge, after all that's what's really wrong with society today everybody complains and worries too much about what the other guy is doing instead of just taking the initiative; buckling down focusing and just getting the job done themselves. Anyway sorry if it offends you but if i have the opportunity to earn SP while being able to go and get other RL stuff done and not have to physically be present through the grind im going to do that. Because if there is a goal to hit i will hit it and if and whenever possible i will ALWAYS WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER. I wont hit you with any more cliches but really to your OP the idea of integrity and honor in a videogame is laughable at best. Now mutual respect for your teammate and competitor is perhaps a better point and you could have tried to argue that but you didn't. Look, I couldn't care less that you are AFK farming. CCP could give you 1 billion skill points and it wouldn't bother me. It's the fact that this game is purely for entertainment like you said, and by joining a battle and doing nothing you are putting your "team" at a disadvantage and potentially ruining someone elses entertainment just so you can get gear faster to win those super important corp matches.
It's not about having video game integrity, it's about having human being integrity and respecting someone else trying to get entertainment. I don't go to movies and talk on my phone. It's the same principle that applies here. |
