My suggestion is stick with the Myron for awhile before you really invest in higher stuff. I guess you could go Grimsnes, but Caldari ships look cooler, have more shields, and extra high slot modules instead of low slot modules. You could use one of the extra high slots to get a CRU module so you get the onboard spawning bonus. Be warned that module is pricey, but if you want to be a dropship pilot you already accepted the ISK investment.
Then of course fit it with everything else you need to survive like hardeners and such. Once you're actually flying though, always play it safe. Fly around far from the action and wait for a few people to spawn in your ship, then quickly bring them over objectives and try to make it obvious you want them to drop from your dropship (that's the point, isn't it?). And watch out for turret installations, these things take you out pretty fast and at the end of the day your ISK investment is greater than any foot soldier's ISK investment so don't feel bad about being over overcautious if they aren't going to do their job and help provide a safe fly zone. |

^ I'm not entirely sure because I've never played EVE so I'm still somewhat new to it all as well. But you have the right idea that "High" slots aren't always better than "Low" slots, it's just a way to prevent stacking way too much of one module I would assume.
There's definitely important stuff for both slots. There is an armor repair module which is an absolute must for all vehicles and it takes up a low slot. There are the popular shield extenders which take up a high slot. The main reason I'm telling you to go with the Myron is because the CRU module takes up a high slot. So unless you want to invest a crazy amount of SP to get the Eryx or Prometheus which come with on board spawning by default, your options are either the Myron - which minus 1 high slot has 3 high slots and 2 low slots - or the Grimsnes - which minus 1 high slot has 1 high slot and 4 low slots. Just my opinion but you'll get more versatility out of the Myron.
Of course you don't have to have the CRU for on board spawning, but that sort of defeats the purpose of the dropship in my opinion. |
