Quite a few people are noticing some matches where one team gets completely rolled over by the other. Not really the game's fault, just the luck of the draw during matchmaking.
So here's a proposal: after a certain amount of time in the match if the game becomes lopsided towards one team have a notification appear to one of more of the top players on the winning team with a message along the lines of "We'll give you extra ISK if you betray your team and help up, and another bonus if you manage to win" or whatever to keep in lines with the concept that we are mercenaries. Of course there is still the risk involved (no longer getting the winning team bonus if you can't make the comeback, high probability of dying a lot during the comeback attempt).
Haven't really thought of the possibility that the losing team may be full, but perhaps they could still switch over anyways? Let's face, it's pretty hard to make a comeback in this game. Having a few extra mercs on the losing team wouldn't be that big of a deal in my opinion. |

To that I say that I'm going off the assumption that War Points are accurately portraying who is contributing the most to the team, which as of now isn't the case. Also this is why I suggested sending the notification to multiple people on the winning team, surely all of them aren't all snipers or KDR obsessers. Those guys would probably refuse the betrayal contract anyways. |

Ha, that'd be pretty crazy. I was really only suggesting this for public Instant Battle matches though so there'd be no real motive to perform such a triple cross.
But hmm, if we bring this into other matches things could get really interesting. The various EVE players hiring mercs to attack or defend would be going back and forth trying to outbid each other to get the best mercs on their side, but blindly since they'd have no way of knowing what the other guys are paying, unless there is some espionage. Or they could take the merc's word on what they are offering, but then the merc could use that to his/her advantage and exaggerate what the employer is paying. And perhaps to for a team to counter someone in the process of a triple cross the contractor could lock him out of the spawn zones, have it work in the lore as simply denying access to the CRU's.
I really want this level of complicity in a shooter now. As you said, there would be nothing like it anywhere else. |
