Your idea definately fits in with the EVE universe as I understand it. Political intrigue, alliances, and betrayal being common in the game. It needs some work to be fully fleshed out, and has the potential to make Skirmish matches even longer than they already are. I personally don't care about the length of idividual matches, but is true that longer a match goes the less ISK and SP a player can earn in a day. I would keep it out of Ambush, and Ambush OMS, as they are timed matches and designed to be quick. I can't think of anything right now that would help further this idea, but it has merit, and the idea of introducing betrayal into the game appeals to me. |

The players that can turn a game around, are the ones that are happy losing ISK , and K/D ratio, for the benefit of his team. And that is rare in Dust 514, as for the majority of tier 2 players will stop fighting after they reach 5 -6 death.
This is all true, but I would add something else to that mix.
CCP has already said that they're going to be introducing Friendly Fire into the game. So what if the people that decide to "betray" their team come over and start shooting everyone they see? Let's say this is implemented, and it is an option that battlefield commanders can take. They're in a losing battle for a particular district, and decide to throw some extra ISK into the fight by offering to pay Mercs on the winning side to betray their employers. Some of them agree, and commander transfers the specified amount into their accounts. Now the new Mercs spawn behind enemy lines and open fire. It's a Triple Cross! A ploy to get men into position and destroy the enemy from the inside! The Mercs that were paid to betray their employers/Corp now return home as heroes, while the commander and his defeat army return home in shame.
Definately can add some flavor and intrigue to what would otherwise be a standard, ordinary, every day, match.
Just because it's offered, doesn't mean that it's always going to be beneficial. But it would add another layer to the game that would make it stand out from other FPS's, or really, other games in general. Can you think of any other game, besides EVE where things like this could occur? |

Panther Alpha wrote:But maybe only give that option, to mercs that have a high "lifetime" W/L ratio.
I'd personally leave that up to the Corps/Commanders/Capsuleers/Mercs offering the "bounty", as it were. Strategically speaking, if I were the "Spymaster" of my Corp, I might decide to make the offer to some of the lesser players; the ones who aren't going to be making a lot of ISK if their team wins. They'd be more likely to accept the offer, for much less, and be less likely to betray me. The Mercs with a high W/L ratio, while obviously more effective in battle, wouldn't neccessarily need, or want my ISK. They could easily earn what I offer by sticking with their current team, and, more importantly, be much harder to put down if they decided to pull a Triple Cross. |

^Risk Versus Reward. Not everyone will go all Team Killer, and not everyone will accept the offer to betray their Corp, or current employer. But just having the option will open up so much in this game. |
