I have been playing for quite some time now, but I would like to skill into tanks, and I was wondering if anyone could give me some good tips on load-outs for them. I would also like opinions on whether to go for the shield or armor variants. Thank you. |

I have a pretty good Soma (militia armour) fitting that I'll post here later on once I get on DUST. 1.4k shields, 5.3k armour, 2 light armour reps, an armour hardener and an active heat sink.
Lots of actives to remember though |

I prefer armor tanks. They have massive amount of flaws. But if you know what you are doing, they can be quite entertaining. Skill up to a Madrugar. But upgrade your shield and armor skills first. |

This are the Dust Forums, where no one does any constructive posts. Don't expect anyone to share an actual good fit or discuss tank fittings, because some people seem to think that they are genius for having figured out that fitting vehicles in Dust go by the same principles as EVE ships.

Here is a real simple Sica build that can be achieved by a starting character
Sica...Just add 2x Shield Extender 1 and 2x 60mm Reinforced steel plates You need Combat Engineering 5 and Circuitry 2 and the shield and armor skill to get the level 1 shields and armor. and the best part..less than a 200k price tag. |

I just have to add that dual tanking is not advised and you would be better off sacrificing some HP for a booster. Having no regenerative ability is somewhat suicidal unless spider tanking. |

i love it when my 1k shield and 6k armor tank eats an orbital that tried to take me out.
2 shield hardeners, 3 25% active armor hardeners (CCP in charge of staking penalties). a 180 armor plate. a heavy armor rep.
2 small blasters and a large blaster to make it complete |

a lot of the "good"tank drivers wont be willing to share their fittings...kinda proprietary info and a good fitting can make all the difference sometimes.
honestly, just dont mix shield and armor mods, make sure you have a good balance of resistance and reps, and dont go for the most expensive tanks without getting the fittings up first. |

1k shields and over 6k armor. marag
3 25% active armor hardeners (CCP in charge of stacking penalties). 1 heavy armor rep, a 180 armor plate. 2 shield hardeners (or whatever i feel like that can go into the high slots).

HUUUUURRRRRRRPPPPP DDDDRRRRRRRREEEEPPPPPPP!
O he dont know me to well do he ^
you want tank fit???
more like you want PRO FITS !!!
ill tell you rite now being mostly the best tanker in game its all about what YOU Feel like and what Gun your using .
to start you off here you have 2 guns to pick from
Blaster or Railgun
Blasters are for your battle tanks
and battle tanks are hi HP tank with a booster
the best battle tanks are armor tank they have the most buff but are slow to turn and get up to speed * *so remember when ever driving a battle tank stay close to cover as your speed is your heel .
now for a armor battle tank pro fit
1 L blaster
2 small blaster
Low,s 1 L rep 2 Armor hardeners 2 Resistance plates or 1 Resistance plates and a S rep ( only use fit in close in map) ( or if in a open map armor plate)
Hi.s 3 resistance amplifiers
and thats a battle tank.
shield battle tank
1 L blaster
2 small blaster
Hi,s 2 resistance amplifiers 1 shield booster 1 shield extender 1 shield hardener
lows 2 power Dignostic systems 1 systemic hybrid damage mod
and thats battle tanks. fittings may or may not be up to date with build and remeber to max out you fitting skills for CPU and PG. as well as mods
as for railgun tanks there called TD,s ( Tank destroyers)
and they only good for one thing ! (and yes i 99%of the time use them)
the best TD,s are shield tanks with the soma being the only Good armor tank if you only look at isk cost and may be the best tank for the job but most TD,s that are good are shield tanks.
TD shield tank 1 L railgun
2 small railguns
hi,s 2 resistance amplifiers 2 shield hardener 1 shield extender
lows 3 dmg mods for L railguns
TD armor
1 L railgun
2 small railguns
1 Resistance plate
2 Armor hardeners
1 L rep
1 armor plate
KING TD Soma fit FYT AKA "**** YOUR TANK!"
ok for this to work you need to do is
max L raillgun skills to MAX !! with turret o[ to 5 as well.
Pro DMG mod,s IN ALL THE LOW,s 1 1700 Railgun !
hi,s 2 resistance amplifiers

um, if i recall my track record with him shows otherwise. also, its not always about packing damage mods to a compressed railgun and sniping all match. im all about the corp and sometimes a tank is needed elsewhere, sometimes even as that sacrificial pawn, which i am happy to play if the time arises.
furry is certainly one of the few tankers i respect, but weve been crossing eachother's paths for a while now, much earlier than i think youve even been in this game, so w/e i guess. different playstyles are different playstyles.
shoutout to furry, dude might be rolling his eyes to me but he certainly acts like a cool dude when we are on comms together lol. |
