I was in a match, an enemy pulls up to a cannon in his tank. He jumps out to hack the cannon and is killed in the process. I hacked the vehicle and kept it untouched the rest of the match. After the match I checked my vehicle fittings and nothing was there. So who gets the tank? I posted this question in he general discussion and found out the person who called it in got to keep the tank. Really? For that I should of blew it up got the points and caused him to lose the isk.
CCP, y'all got me on this one(Eddie Murphy laugh). Some one owes me a tank. Lol, jk.
As a formal request, I would like to, in the future, be able to keep hacked vehicle. Call it salvage or whatever name you wanna give it. As it stands now, we get no points for the hack and no vehicle. It is just better to blow it up.
I would like to see what the community thinks on the matter. Hack and keep the vehicle or blow it up?
Oh, and before anyone say this has been said a thousand times before, I searched exactly these words: "keeping a hack vehicle" and nothing similar to this popped up. Somebody is gonna say it any. |

Well. What you did was rather unusual. Not unheard of, but unusual. Not very many people hack a vehicle and then leave it there to sit around and look pretty. What I have seen is a few people doing the following
A) Don't hack it, just blow the damn thing up. You get WP for it AND you cost the other guy a vehicle. Two birds with one stone.
B) Use it. It's going to get destroyed one way or another, might as well have some fun with it in the meantime right? Sure you risk loosing a loadout, but at least when you die in the vehicle, it wasn't yours to begin with so the loss isn't as great.
C) I've only seen this once, but apparently it's rather common. (This only works with LAVs and DSs though) Apparently people take thier newly hacked vehicle, drive it like a maniac either really fast into a wall, or off a high ledge. At the last possible second they bail out, and watch the hacked transport asplode in a glorious blaze of death. No points, and risk of death is involved if you don't bail fast enough, but it's supposed to be a bundle of laughs.
You also have to keep something in mind. Yes you just hacked a tank, and yes you can use it. But after the battle what then? Do you have the skills needed to even use the thing now that it's yours? Or does it become a collector's item to stare at wistfully while you moan over the lack of SP needed to maneuver it?
Something I might request, is whether or not someone can even use a hacked tank. Someone with a high spec tank get's it hacked by some lowlife who has no idea what he's doing IRL let alone possess the skills needed to drive it. In my mind that's a little questionable. By this logic, someone like myself who hasn't spend a single SP in vehicle use, shouldn't be able to use/hack anything that's not a Militia grade LAV (since everyone can call those down and drive them from the get=go) |

I hacked it and jumped in the drivers seat. Also used it to get some kills. Still no tank. |

I Fully agree with what your saying, If you hack a lav/hav/ds and manage to win the battle with it still intact it should be yours. Who cares if you have the skills to drive the damn thing.. you just successfully pirated that from your enemy. Be even better if you could sell if afterwords LOL. I could see it now "One gently used tank, great shape, non smoking home and fully loaded. 1mil isk O.B.O" |
