No, not anymore. The vehicle underneath is almost always fine. Sometimes the vehicle underneath takes a bit of damage, but I've yet to see one blow up in this build. I have seen the bolas drop on the person who called in the vehicle and killed him. Last build I did shoot down bolases which were flying directly at me, and I have not done that again. They will fall/crash on your HAV and one-shot it.
If you've got the damage and aim, in corp battles it's usually best to kill the vehicle under the bolas before it drops, and then kill the bolas itself (or not). A person can't call in more than one vehicle at a time. That timer stays until the bolas flies away, or a little bit after you shoot it down. Your opponent can't call another vehicle in immediately after taking down a bolas, but it seems to be the same amount of time as if you didn't shoot it down at all.
In pub matches I like to kill the bolas, then blow up the vehicle once someone gets in it, but pub matches really don't matter.
It's 150 points with no defend mark, and 180 points if you do have a defender mark on you. Your squad needs 2,500 WP for an orbital, so if you shoot down 2 bolases at the start of a match and 2 LAVs, that's 460 WP right there. Your squad leader will also get some wp, but I don't know how much.
WP management is key in this game. You'll have to decide if it's better to just farm WP or defend/attack an objective. You'll also want to deny your enemy from earning too much WP, so keep that in mind. You can kill vehicles by driving them into the redzone, and there's (unfortunately) an abandoned vehicle timer.
I love shooting down bolases. I don't know if this is true, but I feel like it's intimidating for the other team. Those things have a fair amount of HP, so if someone starts shooting them down you know that they have some high damage weaponry in that battle. |
