Hey.I am new to this game and i have a few questions:
1.How many maps are there?I only saw two.
2.Any way to join the game with a friend or any way to choose a room aside from instant battle?
3.Off map support seems strange.What's the deal with it?

1. More... Some of them are in rottation. (look at map part of this forum)
2. Make squad with friends and go for battle together.
You can make corporation matches too.
3. Off map suport
For now PS and OB (Precision Strike and Orbital Borbardment .. all for 2500wp)

by full game launch suposably there are 5000 planets with 12 districts on each planet and 4 maps in a district if my intel is right and my math that comes down to 240,000 difrent variations of maps |

CCP does a good job at hiding a lot of this stuff and it took me awhile to figure out as well, so I have no problem providing a slightly more detailed response.
1. There are 4 maps at the moment, each with slight variations to infrastructure so they will feel different each time. There will be many many more eventually however, just wait.
2. During the game press select and go to squad and create one and invite your friend. It would be helpful to first add him to contacts by going to your Neocom -> Social -> Contacts -> Search. Keep in mind they may be using different names for Dust 514, not necessarily their PSN ID. Also voice chat is set to off by default, so go to your Neocom -> System Operations -> Voice Chat -> On. Squads can only hold 4 at the moment, but they are getting increased to 6 very soon. If you have more than 4 friends and somehow get into a match all together on the same team, you can switch to team chat by pressing Select and hovering over Team and pressing X, a prompt should appear reading "Activate Voice."
Right now instant battles are mostly what you are going to find, occasionally there will be Mercenary battles. You can however form a Corporation (read: clan) for a cost of 1,599,999 ISK and the appropriate skill. Corporation CEO and Directors can then view contracts and select some to participate in. Each contract will have a time listed in GMT time, so plan accordingly so you don't accept a contract and miss the battle. Also Corporation battles are currently 8v8, so it is not recommended to go into one with any less than that.
3. All off map support is for right now is calling in orbital strikes and such. When a squad collectively accrues 2500 points, the squad leader can then go to off map support and call in the strike. |
