People hate the Imperfects because people are status-seeking primates seeking dominance as "dominance" is defined by the society they find themselves in. In the DUST 514 social hierarchy and especially in the subsection of the community which occupies the forums, the Imperfects (not necessarily as individuals but as a a brand) are desirable (for lack of a better word).
It's a complex system and I'm only describing part of it here, many views on the faction will fit into places I don't mention.
A lot of our community members are strongly and outspokenly against the Imperfects. A lot of the community members are strongly for them (though they are likely to suppress outwardly displaying the full force of their will to fawn over this brand). Whichever side they fall on, they can't escape defining themselves in terms of their relation to the Imperfects because their primitive limbic system is all abuzz with neurochemical triggers to everything which may seem relevant to attaining status in the community.
While part of the appeal of the brand is the exclusivity... this same exclusivity breeds critics and resentful "can't-haves" who will fully convince themselves of their dislike for anyone and anything associated with the brand.
We'll also be seeing a lot of people guilty of fundamental attribution error in associating perceived negative qualities of Imperfects members with the faction and this bias will extend to cause people to notice these qualities in other members at a greater rate than actually exists.
It's a clusterkitten of self-perpetuating feedback loops. Being an Imperfect, wanting to be one, being humiliated by one, all has far-reaching effects on the self-esteem of a person and their perception of their own status.
I don't believe the claim that people don't know who they're fighting as a dismissal of the power of the brand. The number of threads that pop up with "I just saw X from the Imperfects doing Y" suggests otherwise.
TL;DR people hate them because the part of your brain that decides who you're jelly of was built hundred of millions of years ago and doesn't realise its redundancy. |

Dearest Sir, it's quite obvious which PJs you'd infact be wearing (with or without me currently sitting in the tree a few meters from your front window) The MLP PJs because MLP is best, and we know how much you want to be the best, right Beers? |

So yeah, the IMP secret is out If that's true, do you realize most people don't know who they're fighting most of the time? Even more so later, when we're just told to defend or attack a certain planet. Marketing is directed toward EvE. We have had tons of FW corps and nullsec alliances reach out to us based upon name recognition. Well, doubt I'll be running into you guys much anyway when that time comes- I'm more of an alliance support guy than a merc. |

Joined an ambush where Zitro was rolling a team in his tank. His buddy or alternate account MrZitro was also in the tank as he was 0/0 and had more WP from assist than my entire team had combined. Saw noob teammates try and spawn anti-armor and swarm him but they couldn't do much. Hit him with the milita forge gun a few times before I died, then just sat in the overview and watched him circle the place rolling a bunch of noobs.
I didn't care too much though since I new better than to keep dropping in quickly. Went 2/2 and salvaged some awesome gear. |

Funny, I don't know why anyone would hate anyone else in a game, it's an effing game, and its especially confusing that anyone would dislike competitive adversaries in game when without adversity improvement is stifled. |

There is alot of truth in this statement. In reality imperfects usually troll more people who take this game way to seriously than people who actually understand that this is a game. |

I think most of the hatred they attract is due to their attitude. If they were skilled players, but humble, no one would care. Of course, they do have a few players who aren't colossal braggarts, but they're few and far between.
It doesn't really bother me, though. I take comfort in the fact that their attitude is just gonna come back and bite them in the ass when other corps start whittling away their territory in 0.0 space once CCP adds that feature. |

I do not hate them. I respect them just like every other corp. And I will continue to until they show they that they are childish or something, which still I would not judge the whole corp on one member. If I could i'd write GG after games win or lose. If you hate them I find you kinda odd. I see no reason to do so. They have good players and they have bad players, they have trolls and they probably have nice helpful players aswell. Same as any other corp as I see it. |
