type-II assault suit, complex shield extenders, weaponry lvl 3 or 4 and a GEK.
Once you have that down, you can work on light weap sharpshooter (increased range), reload, finish weaponry, maybe get some armor plates, and increase your AR skill. You'll probably want to unlock the standard variants of the militia gear you use just for reduced PG and CPU cost. Use the dropsuit PG and CPU upgrades as you need them. After a few points in that stuff, I'd go for the prototype dropsuit. If you can wait, the proto logi suit is better than the assault one (for assault...), but that's only on the proto level. The lower versions of logi move slower, but the proto logi suit is faster than proto assault, and you get better slots. You give up a sidearm, but once your AR skills are maxed out you won't be needing one much. |

don't max out that profile dampening skill even though so many here seem to think it's a good idea >.>
You're going to be shooting people in the face, and not jerking off in the hills like a sniper.
edit: here's another thread where people make some different suggestions...

edit edit: that 5% bonus to shields per skill level seems nice at first, but it only does it for your dropsuit. Shield mods (like the 66hp complex) don't get the 5% bonus. |

Overall good ideas.
I would suggest changing Weaponry to lvl 5. That gives a +10% to all hand held weapon damage, I don't know if it translates to vehicles or turrets.
Light Weapon Sharpshooter to whatever you can afford. +25% range on an assault rifle will give you surprised kills as you hit them from a longer distance. Since it applied to all light weapons it is a multiple bonus as well. |

No.
It was intentional. There are plenty of people who get 15 kills and 0-3 deaths in ambush with 1 point in weaponry. If you can shoot people in the face, the head shot bonus damage is far greater than weaponry. Almost no one can shoot people in the face in this game, so it'll be easy-mode if you can. Also, you're spending a lot of SP for a mere 2% extra damage. If you have to choose between 2% extra damage or two complex shield mods (66 hp each) you're nuts to go with the damage. The suit gives more too. All around, putting a few points in other skills is better than trying to max out just one. Once you get going go ahead and start maxing out skills, but it's usually a bad way to start.

It does not. Vehicles and turrets are not held a hand held weapon @.@ |

Dummass 4 day old noob question: What the eff is a "GEK"? I'm still stuck on a type I suit with militia shields (absolutely worthless - a gentle fart will take you out) but I've managed to get weaponry up to 3. Let's just say my kills to death ratio is... not good. |

Your Kills-to-Death-Ratio (KDR) doesn't matter in Dust514. WarPoints, ISK and Winning matters, but as the tag-line says, "Death is Meaningless".
..and if "0 Try Harder" is dutch, then he wants you to get a crazy person, otherwise "Gek" is medium-class Assault Rifle, that does 5% more damage than regular Assault and has a larger magazine than the Militia Assault Rifle.
If you want to run with an Assault Rifle, spec into level 1 or 2 (more to reduce recoil), and try out the various rifles available in the Marketplace ingame. Figure out if you want the reguar, breach, burst or tactical, then later look at whether you want the medium-class ones (I'd suggest not). Depending on what you choose, various skills then matter.
But overall: If you're playing with the Milita Assault Suit or a Type-I Assault suit, get the Field Mechanics skill up, so you get some more hitpoints. If you opt to play with Type-II (shield-based) suits, then Shield Control matters, but also requires a lot more Skill Point. As a "noob", I suggest you get some Field Mechanics first.
As for the Weaponry skills, then only skill into it if you need the other weapon-types unlocked or if you need that 2% extra damage to win. Personally, I've left it out, and can still go 3:1 KDR occassionally despite being a crappy FPS'er. |

I wouldnt worry about the GEK for now, its currently glitched so that the crosshairs wont appear |

^_^! We need more people like you who understand this! I'd throw a few points in there to start because it's so cheap, but there's no need to get lvl 5 until you've got your other skills.
The game says that each point in AR skill reduces recoil, but it's apparently a bug. It seems to reduce the spread. I say get GEK because it's a nice gun to have, and you'll get lvl 3 of AR skill.

I didn't notice that, but it's not like you need crosshairs if you're hip firing anyways. AIM, and don't stop moving to do it. |
