Thus they need to proceed in a orderly professional manner. As such they have been lacking I feel we could maintain discipline and invoke a more business like work ethic on the forums with cross dust punishments. I also think a dust weekend game play ban would also deter forum deviants or a day long game play ban. I mean my opinion is you should feel comfortable speaking on the forum. A business like manner might not be comfortable for some. I know most get at each others throat, it is gonna happen with all these opinions. Consider it a debate. Yes but debates need structure, CCP has laid out that structure already. They have stated what they approve of and do not approve of on the forums. People need to follow the rules. If they do not they need punishments that can deter and effectively punish that behavior, instead of having to go through and "clean up" threads on a regular basis a good stick will prevent them from having to do that kind of work and when they do they can make sure the offender has been corrected for the long term. Losing SP is not something people will gloat about.
You know they do perm ban people and gag them.
When you get a perm ban, well that's it.
I still feel this thread a rant turned into a civil conversation under fear of lock. |

Losing SP is not something people will gloat about. So it been going on for about how long? CCP has not done anything thus far so I assume they are not concerned or they feel whats going on is not that bad. I have seen a GM step in a thread and warn people of their behavior and or language. So we have to assume if nothing is said they must not feel a way about it.
I'm thinking the only time they get really upset is like fanfest mattani like comments, Google if u no know. |

Such actions seem so rare compared to the seemingly open hostility on the forums. And some of those people who need to be more civil in their conduct actually have good points on game development on both sides as they are sometimes as well informed about a game mechanic as they are passionate about yelling at each other. However they still need to tow the line and banning them would just lose what could be a valuable opinion and member of the community. I dont want to throw the baby out with the bathwater :P I feel my suggestions are far better in shaping how people conduct themselves on the forums instead of just throwing them out.
Perhaps that's a family culture for some when expressing ideas.
My family are bitchy to each other very often but its just normal.
Don't yell at each other lol. |

Yes I can understand that but this is a beta for a game in development. So I feel a more professional work environment culture would produce more then a family oriented one.
Its a game, we're not being paid.
Ages vary from say 10-50 idk.
With just those 2 things you already have a perfect setup for trolls ect. |

Yes but 10-50 year olds can still be controlled, they just need the right motivation and punishments. Lots of organizations are volunteer but they still maintain effective discipline. You just have to know what the different demographics are going to be deterred by as effective punishments. Hitting people in the SP and the play time is a great way of doing that. Everyone can be managed with the right motivations and punishments. I want CCP to take a tougher stance.
It's kind of to cruel, plus I think GM Vegas and GM Hercules kind of enjoy some of our naughty postings. They get to giggle and sensor it or lock it.
They have a great since of humor, with a game like this and a pretty cool community you have to expect people to get out of hand.
Like a casual after party in Iceland when people have had to many booze. |

And if you thank thr trolling here is bad go check out the DCOU PS3 forum why is it that because things are bad somewhere else thats a good reason for them to be bad here? How is that a logical way of solving problems? "well that house over there is on fire so yeah, don't worry about it" And I dont care about trolling, like I said I care about how CCP reacts to violations of its forum rules and the punishments it uses.
Ya but they're not freakn' space robots.
CCP are advanced space robots with an understanding of the human factor and how dumb we get.
If these forums were uber strict everyone would be 100% cautious on what they say and everyone's post would be more like a business report then a hellstorm.
Hellstorm threads make it more interesting when people go on attack mode on a subject.
Gets the community more into it. |

Its not like CCP would picking on people innocent of cruelty Its like a robber complaining about how he wont be able to make money at his job because he has to pay a fine for robbing his job. ( could not think of a better metaphor sorry) Basically its great to throw someone out of a party when the get drunk and mouth off but if its a party they are coming to day after day a more long term strategy would be better, such as restricting how much time they can spend on the dance floor (ie getting sp) and like i said civility would abound afterwards.
Or the drunk man/woman being punished would become more belligerent along with his/her big group of friends holding a bucket of water to short circuit the advanced CCP space bots.
Just sayn' lol. |

Yeah but there are established limits for that, that are more then acceptable for having good passionate arguments. Yet people still decide to play out of bounds. And CCP would benefit from more business report style feedback. Look at how their stickys are setup in the feedback and other beta work sections, clearly they wanted more structured forum content to begin with. They gave us the locker room for a reason.
If I got paid CCP style for this I would definitely make business reports.
The CCP Devs are also representing their company and need to do things the way they do.
They also don't expect us to always be in the guidelines, people will always cross the line whether they mean to or not.
Their current methods have worked for a long time. As an eve player I know the eve community has grown closer from the big allowance or flexibility to the rules the GM's and DEV's give us. |
