We're only as immortal as the availability of our next clone. Our suits make us more effective than your usual soldier, but we are still human underneath. Aren't our respective governments pulling the strings on our clone tech? Gallente, for example.
- If you haven't seen it yet, this video pretty much sums it up for you.

We aren't truly immortal is what I was saying. Our governments still hold the reigns on us. For now at least. They don't hate us so long as we are useful to them. However, if an uprising were to occur at some point that would change very quickly. To answer the OP, you fight for whatever and whoever you wish. You go where the ISK is. Like the video says, we may be called back to fight a war on our home soil at some point. |

We will also amass a huge amount of combat knowledge. Our governments may not like us, but they can't wage war without us. I wonder if there will be a price to be paid for taking a contract against our people in future expansions? |

But we do that fight for out factions though, we are supposedly to fight for whoever pays the most. Thus, it's most likely that we are going against out factions.
There is a real role-playing (I know, bad word) element to Dust, or there will be. You can choose to not take a contract that pits you against your own if you don't want to. I wouldn't take a contract that pits me against the Gallente, for example. I might choose to accept a contract that has me fighting a war for someone just because the other side are the enemies of the Gallente. If my government were to attempt to betray me and my cloned brothers and sisters in some way, then that stance might change. That is up to CCP and where they want to take the New Eden storyline. |

But then how are you different from Gallente Federation's military soldiers? What makes you "mercenary"?
I'll gladly fight for money, just not against my own people. If someone who is Gallente is on the other side, however, I will have to end them. They will have made their choice. Nothing I can do about that.
