I used to MAG a few years ago and they had an option to reallocate points at the expense of exp. I don't know if this has been suggested or requested or not already but I would like to see this as an option in the future. You could offer this as something you can buy with AUR since its free-to-play game or have a set amount of skill reallocations per account. Example: I got say 500k points in skills that aren't benefiting me anymore and like to put them into some more useful. I can purchase a Skill Reallocation consumable item for say... 20k AUR or use 1 of 2 lifetime skill reallocations. There's bound to mix feelings about this but I feel the game might benefit from it. |

This has been suggested several times and the short answer is that it is contrary to the design philosophy of New Eden and would also shorten the life cycle of the game as well as cheapening the macro diversity of the game by heightening the 'flavor of the month' phenomenon.
In New Eden player choices matter, it's a persistent universe and as such there is no save/load feature only cause and effect. Respec is compatible/beneficial for some games (I'm looking at you WoW) but it's out of place within D514.

True, I totally agree. But Dust is not EVE. While it occupies the same Universe it has to do things differently in order to appease its player base which come from games that have had this option of re-customization to fit the player's play style. I love the fact that everything has a consequence to it. You spend 1mil ISK to buy this tank only to see it blow up before it lands cause you didn't see that guy with a Forge gun on the hill. Back during Codex when I first started playing, I knew a reset was down the road so I could spread out my skill points to find that fit that worked well for me. Unfortunately new players today don't have that luxury and have to make every SP count. Thanks for the reply I look forward to more seeing more responses. |

I agree in principle myself, but I do feel that--with an incomplete selection of skills and modules we have limited choice in our selection during Beta participation. Given that, many of us are choosing skills to make ourselves more effective, which we would actually rather avoid as a character development choice.
There should be some consideration at the end of beta for this, although I can't see any reason why it should affect more than Dropsuit and Vehicle skills. Basically, a partial respec with the SP for very specific skills which have currently unavailable alternatives refunded and the skills removed.
I'm not concerned about the ISK to get those skills myself, so much as the ability to change my character development to something I would otherwise have chosen given the option.
On the other hand, it is Beta, and we are going to be keeping SP we have earned from the last reset, so I'm not sure it really matters that much. Certainly, I'm not going to have any real issue training up new dropsuit skills at that time. |

Oooooooor CCP could just make SP repsect as an AUR purchase? A steal at 50,000. |

If CCP did decide to implement a skill reallocation that it would most likely involve the use of AURUM. At least I think so. I mean if you can buy gear with real money without having to have the skill necessary for it and items to boost SP gain passively and actively then why not a skill re-spec item too? If it will help CCP make a profit from Dust then most likely they will implement it. |

I agree that they shouldn't make it easy to do, but I think a one time (lifetime) per account respec would be fair. As a one time and one time only thing, it should eliminate the flavor of the month issue.
Maybe they could give everyone one respec per account right before the end of the beta, and essentially put a one week timer on it. Once the game launches into the release client, the respec would expire and they would never offer them/be usuable again. This way any errors/confusion during the beta could be dealt with, and everyone could create their permanent builds for the official release. |

I like this idea, i've already made my own threads asking for SP refunds when they implement the full range of dropsuits that will be available since I know I want to put points into Logi but I want to use Caldari Logi when it becomes available. Right now i'm using Minnie logi because I have to but once the full range is open those will be wasted skill points. |
