No. CCP should not encourage people to play Dust by simply sitting someplace, shooting a non-moving target in the sky for the entire game. That isn't fun, and it shouldn't be facilitated. If you want to attack the MCC, you should be taking null cannons. |

MCC control is something they sounded like they were going to get to when nullsec comes around after release. Yeah, when the MCC is actually player-bought, player-fit, and player controlled, then shooting the MCC wouldn't be a bad thing, as you'd be fighting another player (who is in the Commander Role inside the MCC). But until that happens, you may as well be shooting unmanned turrets all game. |

But at the end of the day, a game whose focus is on shooting a big, static target is less fun than one which is all about shooting players. Even if it's shooting specific parts of the MCC, it's still a big, dumb ship that just sits there. I think some interaction with the MCC would be fine -- boarding the enemy MCC to sabotage stuff for example -- but it shouldn't be the focus of everyone's attention. Leaving the damaging of MCCs to MCC-scale weapons and NULL cannons is probably for the best, as it frees everyone up to focus primarily on killing other players. |

Whether or not they'll actually get balanced and released to us as something we can actually use is still in question, but the idea has been considered. They'll probably only make sense to use when we get to the point of corps actually owning districts and having larger maps. A tank with no real defenses against ground forces wouldn't last long on the maps we're playing now.
Turrets are turrets. Large railgun emplacement is just a large-type emplacement with a large railgun turret on it. I don't think any anti-MCC stuff will ever be vehicle-mounted, but rather have CPU/PG requirements so high they need to be fitted to emplacements. In other words, player-built/deployed NULL cannons for when corp v. corp really gets rolling, and you don't have anything on the field except what that district has built in it, and what you bring to the fight. |
