The question I have is when is the next patch Commin and when will you be adding new gear.....I'm not being impatient but it would be nice to have a rough estimate and know what we will be getting
Also (and I know this is going to start a flame war) I believe there needs to be a stat reset of sorts when this gear comes out or at least give us the option to sell skills back.....maybe at 25% of the original price ....
One thing we need sooner than anything though is a way to trade items or sell them.....my inventory is so clogged its ridiculous
1. Soon(tm)... get use to it. It's CCP's motto.
2. We already discussed this. Eve Online keeps getting new skill books and new ships and modules for 10 years to this day yet none of the players there ever experienced a reset since 2003 when the game first launched. Dust will be the same way. We will still be getting new skills and stuff 10 years from now when Eve turns 20.
3. The player-run secondary market (the kind you see in Eve) will soon be coming. We might get a preliminary version first, but it will come when it comes. Don't worry. |

@Parson
CCP is a legitimate company. You are correct. But they are a company that is sticking to their roots unlike other major gaming companies. They also want to break the traditional stereotype or assumptions on how a gaming company should operate. How often do you see MMO companies host conventions specifically all about their product outside the typical Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) conventions in a venue that is in their own home country and allows you to pay your Fanfest tickets with PLEX? What about letting the players have their very own player-elected representatives (in this case the Council of Stellar Management) that not only speak for the players but also dictate the direction of the game's development? Are the developers of other games willing to stand idly by as a group of players threaten to burn an entire economy for 3 days while the developers say things like "F**king Brilliant"?
You are also correct that the market is over-saturated with FPS games right now. That is certain. This is why CCP has to think and operate differently to the point where most new players will be forced to be taken out of their comfort zone and be thrown into a universe that is so violent that New Eden is practically the Mos Eisley of the gaming universe where the only way to survive is to adapt while the weak are left to rot in Hek as the strong become powerful megalomaniacs that fight for control of the galactic economy.
Also, YOUR NAME HERE's statement about the Eve players demanding CCP to focus most of their resources to fixing Eve does deny and refute the idea that Dust is progressing too slowly. CCP is still a small company regardless of their success and thus they do have limited resources. Back in 2011 they had to cut back on many things and thus 100+ people lost their jobs as a result of the mass protest by the players. The 2011 Guinness Book of World Records Gaming Edition placed CCP at #1 for most player WALK-OUTS in a single month during the summer of rage. The CEO or Vice President even had to post a public apology to the players for the greed the company exhibited and thus the company promised to finally focus their efforts on fixing Eve Online. So yeah, it does deny and refute the idea that Dust is progressing too slowly.
It's our fault, really. |

@Parson
I'm not sure how to make my reasoning any more clear. It's our fault as Eve players that they had to delay development so much. Those 100+ people that got laid off shortly after the 2011 Summer of Rage could have been put to use in speeding up development on Dust. But no, we Capsuleers said otherwise because we got fed up at one point. Again, we also demanded CCP to focus much of their resources on Eve's internet spaceships.
On the negative side you can blame Capsuleers for delaying Dust.
On the positive side, you can also thank the Capsuleers for making sure CCP sticks to its roots and remember to do things carefully this time. |

Also I understand that EVE keeps getting new skills and don't get skill resets, and would agree with that for Dust once it really gets going, but somethings right now seem to validate a skill reset. Namely - racial dropsuits. A lot of peope are specializing in suits they would of never chosen simply because it's their only option right now, and when they release the other racial variants they'll then have wasted skill points.
Yeah, the popular response to this will be, "Just hold off on specializing until then" but come on, this is still in beta and shouldn't be that big of an issue.
One way to resolve that issue is for CCP to borrow of a page from their own book on how they went ahead with the Tieracide of various ships in Eve Online which ultimately affected the skill tree requirements. Many skill books were split up in the process into the four factions of Eve. Many players worried that the ships they trained into would be unflyable but CCP reassured them that if they were able to fly it then, they can fly it after the change.

Quote: Reimbursement details:
Let us repeat again: if you could fly it before, you will be able to do so after the change. Technically it means if you are able to fly an Oracle by having Amarr Cruisers 3 and Battlecruisers 3, we will remove the Battlecruisers skill from your character and give you Amarr Battlecruisers at 3. If you had Battlecruisers at 3 and Caldari Cruisers 3 instead, you would not receive Amarr Battlecruisers but the Caldari Battlecruisers skill at 3 instead. The same principle work with the Destroyers skill.
With the way nested skill requirements work in EVE, it also means that you will still be able to fly an Apocalypse even if you donGÇÖt have the Amarr Battlecruiser skill trained at 4 after the change. It wonGÇÖt matter as long as you have the Amarr Battleship skill at the proper level.
I hope that explains it for you. |
