Until 18:00 on February 8th and from 10:00 to 16:00 on February 9th, CCP will be running contracted public battles at the Reykjavik Game Show. During these time frames, you can find the public battles under "Reykjavik Game Show - Skirmish # (Server)" and compete against the gaming public utilizing max skilled characters on the battlefield!
Are you merc enough to stand up and pit your skills against these highly-trained soldiers? |

Please consider doing it this way CCP. It would be invaluable to US(the devs and testers), and especially invaluable to the public perception and marketing of DUST.
If your beta-tester playerbase is correct(what, us wrong about anything? pshaw!), we will still dominate players with max skills and gear.
But the value of such a public demonstration to the gaming press and public would be tremendous in regards to the credibility of DUST as a skill-based shooter.
Another golden opportunity presents itself here - give the show attendees a million AUR to spend as they please and prove once and for all that DUST is what it claims to be - a AAA fps that is fundamentally not pay to win.
The mileage we will get out of the above would be hard to over-estimate, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say it would go a long way to getting DUST the playerbase it needs for obvious, blatant, in-your-face long-term sustainability.
P.S. The beta testers will flock to an event like this, with all the odds loaded against them in a public contest. We all want an opportunity to prove to the world the quality of this strange new game that we've chosen to invest our time and energies in, and it's hard to envision a better venue than this. |
