Stats compared against the militia variant:
Gorgon - cost: 151,840 isk CPU/PG: 145/535 Shield/Armor: 540/1310 Hi Slots: 2 Low Slots: 3 Sp Required: 0
Grimsnes - cost: 220,000 (+68,160) CPU/PG: 165 (+20) / 545 (+10) Shield/Armor: 700 (+160) / Armor: 1700 (+390) Hi Slots: 2 Low Slots: 3 (+1) Sp Required: 236,240
Prometheus - cost: 461,920 (+310,080) CPU/PG: 140 (-5) / 380 (-155) Shield/Armor: 700 / 1900 (+590) Hi Slots: 2 Low Slots: (+1) Sp Required: 838,490
(built in CRU)
So, now we're going to look at the costs of a CRU
Mobile CRU - 86,100 CPU/PG: 20/160 Sp Required: 0
Basically, a Prometheus actually takes the CPU/PG cost of the Mobile CRU out of it anyway and you wind up with more slots, but FAR less CPU/PG to fit things. It's safer (and more practical) to use a Grimsnes over the Prometheus if your intent is carry troops to and fro. This "advantage" seems more befitting of the Eryx as it needs more Hi-powered slots, but on a Prometheus the drawbacks are insanely high just to have it built in.
In fact, given the requirements, you're safer using the Gorgon than you would be to use the Prometheus just on a SP/ISK cost level. That +590 armor can be fixed by using a standard 60mm Reinforced Nanofibre Plate for a fraction of the cost of a Prometheus.
Long story short, having the built in CRU still takes away the CPU/PG it would have if it were fit with the module. |

KalOfTheRathi wrote:Replace it with something useful. As there are no WP for carrying New Berries around that won't get out anyway most of the DS pilots posts I read said that is what they do. Since I cannot buy one without the skills I cannot test that out myself. I have no plan on putting SP into DS as they seem like they could be fun but without WP I have better things to do and I actually enjoy Logi Bro and it gets WP. Killing is good too.
I enjoy killing as much as the next guy and am pretty adept at keeping things in a positive light (as far as personal combat goes).
Unfortunately this does still pose a problem as you basically paying 400,000+ isk to have CPU/PG removed from your vehicle for the -metaphorical- bonus of having a built in CRU and +590 armor.
The Grimsnes is by far better for -surviving- combat and being as it's not Hi-power slot dependant it's just overall safer to use it with the CRU than it is to go for the Prometheus.
Starting to understand why people dislike the current iteration so much. |

Skihids wrote:Another thing to consider is you don't get any skill bonus on that missing CPU and PG.
It is spent on the built-in CRU before your skills are applied, not after as when you explicitly equip it as a module.
Interesting... Just saying, if this gets a dev response before the broken laser rifle skills - I might just attack CCP's headquarters with nerf weapons. |

Zero Harpuia wrote:That's pretty ridiculous. Anyone wanna bet that if this were an issue on the HAV it's be patched already? :3 But I digress, if they're gonna have a built in CRU, it should be built in to a more logistically focused Dropship, not slapped onto the Prototype of the only Dropship variant in stores, the used as an excuse to make it weak as a 'balance'.
It's not even that it's weak - you just can't fit **** with it. You're paying an exorbitant amount of money (over the Grimsnes) for all of 290 armor HP. That's not even a single Swarm Launcher missile.
But yes, I agree - if it were something people got kills/points from they'd have fixed it in a heartbeat; because support doesn't matter in this game.
Assault suits, Assault Rifles and HAVs are the basis for all balancing. It's ridiculous. |

Bojo The Mighty wrote:The way I see it, for the Prometheus, it's adding a high slot, which it only has two of. That is (proportionally) a big trade off, so reduced stats are part of the compromise. That's how I see it.
Lot of good that does for armor tanking. Not nearly worth the trade off - I'd rather have more CPU/PG than sacrifice my survivability solely for people to spawn on my vehicle (and potentially die when they stay in the dropship as it goes down) |

one if my users could use the highest level dropships. I deleted it. whats the point in paying for something that the game doesnt give you any skill for and any noob or L33T player abusing the HW gunner bug can destroy in 4 shots?
the higher level dropships are as useless as the lower level ones unless u plan on spending another 5 or 6 matches of ISK on them. and u know you will be destroyed before you can move. Ive tested it.
I can target a dropship that has just spawned with a SWARM from under my main ship when it deploys under its main. the SWARM needs to have its targeting lowered to say 300 M right now i can target anything at over 500meters with the newbie anti armor.
LOWER the swarms range. Give us a chance.
Anyway.. Ive been bug abused outa wanting to play. The admins really need to start putting forth an effort to remove bug abusers it would go a long way to show the paying honest players that someone is keeping the balance.
Absolutely not. They increased it's range after nerfing the absolute **** out of a long time ago. There are other ways to fixing things besides nerfing the **** of out damage or range on everything. |
