Hello fellow mercs, today I decided I would finally upgrade my AR skill so I could get my hands on the fabled GEK AR. I have read a lot of posts on here about it being op. Upon receiving the AR I noticed that I could not run it on my suit with the mods I wanted, I chose to give up my side arm instead of the mods because I need my shields and armor. So that's the first thing that makes this not OP Of course I could upgrade my suit to a higher tier, but a high tier suit with the gun, and modules would be extremely expensive and not isk efficient. So my first match with the GEK and I did fantastic. At one point my buddy was dead infront of an enemy CRU and i soloed about 5 guys(one being a heavy, and probably a newberry) and revived him. Yes this sound OP, but lets look at this, I died 5 times in that match, those 5 suits cost me 200k. At the end of the match I made 250k but now I had to buy back those suits. So at the end of it all I only made 50k isk. That is using a cheap dropsuit and semi cheap mods. So I guess the point of this is, Yes you increase your preformance but at the cost of little to no reward. Also the no side arm thing got me killed at least 3 of the 5. I would run out of ammo and get gunned down easily.
This is how the gek is balanced. Cost and CPU. I can't afford to run it all the time i would never make a profit. Stop complaining things are OP just because they killed you and think about what it probably cost. It wasnt cheap to get. |

Don Von Hulio wrote:If i wanted to. I could have a Dovole. But then i would have to part with my shields, sidearm, and probably my armor rep too. It in my best interest to get my L3 Suit, then Light Weapon upgrade, then finally Cap Assault rifle when ill be able to use it to its fullest potential without sacrificing slots and sidearms. Yes and it'll cost you an arm and a leg |

Frankly, I don't care either way. However, your justification is a poor one. The cost of the weapon at release will be set by the market, and will likely be less expensive than it is now. Even if not, many of us belong to corps that refund our losses - meaning that it costs me nothing to run around with Geks all day pwning faceholes. Finally, money in this game will be irrelevant in a few months for anyone worth their salt. Money is ultimately what you trade for WP/SP. If you want to measure the impact of the weapon figure out how many WP you get for the amount of ISK you spend. you obviously have never played eve... the money we make is chump change for capsuleers the prices will not go down because capsuleers will not waste there time selling them to us for 20k or lower. They do trades in the millions once our markets combine eve money will be spread to everyone with an eve friend and prices will skyrocket

They do trades in the millions once our markets combine eve money will be spread to everyone with an eve friend and prices will skyrocket My Eve character has 3.5 billion ISK and 35 Million SP. I guarantee that when the economies combine, the cost of Geks will be trivial for anyone who doesn't completely suck. Ok obviously no one here understands economics so let me explain it. I KNOW YOUR EVE CHARACTER HAS A CRAP TON OF MONEY they all do. When the market opens to dust and eve there will be more money in the dust system causing the value of 1 isk to decrease. This will cause the prices of everything to go up.
