At least twice I've experienced drop-ships that were landing slowly on level ground go from stationary to on it's side as if it were an egg placed upright on its base.
Has anyone else either seen or had this happen to them? I know it happens very easily if you land on either non-flat or non-level ground. Is there any chance this is a bug caused by hyper sensitive ground/vehicle collision? |

Dozens of times. Safest thing to do is just stay calm and watch how it operates - if it tips over and you try to burn out you'll slide across the ground and hit a wall. There's no real "roll" mechanic when there's flat ground beneath you.
In the Air Patrol they teach you to simply cut the engine and brace; which honestly is the best option with Dropships. Don't touch any of the flight controls (specifically the L1/L2 buttons) and if **** starts to look bad just bail out. |

I recommend not landing... ever... you dont need to touch the floor for peeps to get in...
and tbh if you cant hover at 1-2m your prob going to crash into the ground anyway... |

I've seen it happen and even been inside a dropship when it has occurred. The landing gear for dropships need a serious buff. It does seem like hovering for pickups is a lot safer at the moment. |

I've only ever seen this for 1 reason, and that's if I accidentally land on top of something. Just be careful about your LZ. Also, if it's happening for no reason whatsoever, buy a tank instead. You probably aren't cut out for this kind of thing. |

Best way to fix a roll is to hit L2 wich reverses the thrust and can possible get the dropship up right (dont ask me why i think it may be because ccp coded L2 to make the base of the dropship move towards the ground) other then that u could try ramming an lav into it but for the most part ur screwed |

I fail to see your point here. It is a fact that the landing gear on dropships are worthless and if a dropship pilot cant hover with precision they sure wont be able to avoid swarms. |

well it's pretty easy to land, you just got to be pretty stupid not to land on flat terrain!

Yes but if we read the OP we know that the pilot IS having difficulties landind on flat ground. So if landing on flat ground is causing your dropship to roll over then chrom is right that one should hover slightly above ground. |

I prefer a hard landing to hovering especially when im taking hits from swarms etc that knock you off balance, one hit from a swarm or even lav missle launcher rolls you on your side to instant death while hovering |

You see, THIS is why I was against the Mario Kart expansion, but did ANYONE listen to me? Now we have dropships slipping on banana peels as they set down, turtle shells knocking our bolas across the map before they spawn all the way in so that our tanks are dropped off half a field away, and star powered lag players from overseas are dropping us like flies! Can we do away with this expansion now, or do we have to wait to loose MORE ISK first.... x_X |
