I shot this HAV until its armor was burning, and just one tiny hit was all it would take it to destroy it. While I was reloading to deliver the finishing forge gun shot, it got destroyed because of burning armor. I only got assists for the destruction.
If you are the last one to land a hit, and caused the armor to be burning, then you should get the destruction/kill war points and credit, not just an assist.
About dropships specifically, if you hit a dropship and they lose control and crash, it should count as a kill/destruction. You are the reason they crashed, therefore you should get the WP and credit for it, and not just an assist. Another option would be to give a suicide assist points and credit that is less WP than a destruction, but more than a regular assist.
EDIT: Another solution would just be to make assists proportional to damage done like described in this thread. |

I've shot an AR at a HAV with burning armor and got the assist. Some one with a nade or something got the kill. So it just takes one scrambler pistol to steal your WP |

I'll add my minor weight behind this. As a dedicated AV guy, this is one of my biggest bug bears. I seem to be outright killing a lot more dropships these days but still occasionally only get an assist. Not so much a problem with LAVs anymore because my swarms OHK them but tanks are especially annoying because they can take a lot more time and effort and if you only get a 75WP assist and all three people inside just (died), that is bull and I want credit for the full 300 if I was the last to hit it.
And yes, I know it would be easy for someone to just come along and fire one pistol round at it to claim the kill but this can already happen, so there'd be no difference. It'd still be an improvement over the death by burning half points fiasco. |

I'm also not against assists proportional to damage done but understand that the coding for that will be extremely complex and there would definitely be lots of issues in the inner mechanics. |

I'm not sure hitting that DS again while on that secret HP reserve would cause it to explode mid-air. |

Nah, I've done it - they never explode mid-air. However, like I said, I do seem to often get the full kill on dropships these days - might just be because I beefed up my swarms and most ships are rubbish atm but who knows? |

It would at least be nice if there was a "critical assist" for vehicles and infantry kills when you do the majority of the damage, that gives 80% of a full kill/destruction points. |

i get half kills, half assists, also i don't want passengers/pilots have the chance to jump out, fully loaded destroyed in midair should equal 7x kill + ds destruction, ie 425 wp, not as low as 25 for assist only. |

Is more an annoyance than anything - the simplest solution is to just exclude burning or environment collision damage from the coding that decides who the kill and assist goes to.:
e.g. if ( killDmg.isFrom(Player) ) killCredit -> lastPlayer; else if (killDmg.isFrom(not.Player) killCredit -> lastPlayer);
Hope this makes sense. My pseudo code is a little rusty ;) |

This, a thousand times this! Assists and kill rewards should be awarded according to damage, like the person who did the MOST damage gets the kill and the rest get assists.
In the case of vehicles with multiple people on board perhaps people who are awarded assists should get assists for the kills and vehicle. |

They maintain the last Two Causes that damages some Thing. When it dies then Thing->LastDamage gets the Kill and Thing->PrevDamage gets the Assist.
It is not reassigned to the LastPlayer because the LastPlayer did not Cause the damage. Maybe if they kept a list of Damages they could assess how it should be parceled out. However, they obviously don't.
A timer is being used as well one might note. If the damage caused by the Player happens Too long ago then nothing gets rewarded to the Player. So, in addition to being the one to cause the chain of destruction that resulted in the Destruction of some Thing the chain it what destroyed it. Not the initiator of the chain. If the Pilot/Driver/Operator is able to escape and repair/recover than nothing is awarded in that situation either.
Being that CCP/Shanghai reports to CCP I doubt if it will change.

I'm going to put a request for them to remove dropships from the game because explosive missiles when it brings the dropship HP to 0 don't make it explode in midair like it should and then secondly dropship pilots can only get WP from 2 players manning their guns and killing people.... they don't get any WP if they have a MCRU and people spawn in on it or anything.... players can't use their weapons to fire out of a dropship to score kills which would give dropship pilots more chances to score WP.. now people use dropships as drop and ditch when no longer needed instead of trying to keep safe to give air support to the ground units |

Active AV gunner here, tired of hitting a DS with a forge gun only to watch it slowly drop to the ground and every one jumps out and i get a lousy 75 assist points. If i one shot it, it should have killed everyone in it.
Sorry CCP sometimes giving into those CoD fans just hurts this game, this is one of those times. |

i did get extremely lucky one day in a pub match.. it was very close to the end of the game and i was in a forge gun fit heavy i blasted a dropship the guy didn't bail happened to have a MCRU on his drop ship and it filled up instantly just before it hit the ground... was expecting to see him bail and only get dropship kill but ended up getting the dropship, himself and 6 others and i was like wholy crap and that ended the match |

havent seen anything like that in a very long time. Congrats on the kills btw. Folks started complaining on here because they were used to BF2 and other fps where the vehicle would catch fire and they could jump out. Silly silly change IMO.
