It sounds interesting, but we need restrictions: GÇó It would be limited to sidearms (and melee weapons, so you'd be able to mix/match any two sidearms/melee weapons you want, but they'd both take up slots, even if they were the same weapon. For supply purposes, your supplies of the same weapon would be equally divided between the two slots). GÇó There would be a significant accuracy penalty (which you'd have to skill into dual-wielding to reduce). GÇó You wouldn't be able to aim.
I don't know if it would fit the tone, but if implemented with the above limitations, it could be a nice combat style, not to mention badass-looking (if the animations are done right). |

I'm all for dual wielding sidearms so long as the following requirements are met because I like the sidearms in the game. However, I don't have to be a math wiz to figure out that two pistols or two smg's would be better than just about any other infantry weapon currently available so here is a 4 point nerf to dual wielders to keep things interesting.
1st: stacking penalty applied so that damage and accuracy are reduced from both weapons by 20 percent from base. 2nd: Dual Welding be added to sidearm skill regain. With 3 percent reduction of initial nerf per level. 3rd: When using the aim button the guns alternate fire between them so that only one gun is firing at a time. 4th: Split total max amunition remains the same instead of doubling. (no change to clipsize.) So they still have to switch to secondary sidearm if they are running low on the pirmary side arm.
I would say kill the range some too but hell, the range on smg's and pistols is pretty damn poor anyway.
Utilmately, I'll won't be dissapointed if this never makes it in the game. But, I would definitely hate for it to be in the game in be twice as good as everything else on the ground already. Or just diminish accuracy by 50%, the weapons would shot the same number of damaging shots, but they would fly everywhere.
Yeah, that seems more sensible. The Dual-Wielding skill could decrease the penalty by 5% per level, and Dual-Wielding proficiency would enhance damage while DW by 5% per level (makes up for the inability to zoom). You should also be able to dual-wield equipment with the possible drawback of being slowed while doing it, since equipment requires attention (the split-beam repper would still function the same).
