Hello all, I am here to educate you all on how to adapt to certain situations, and maps that are currently in the game. All I ask is that you take the time, and read this thread, then test these solutions out for yourselves. If it doesn't fit your style of play, then fine, no one is forcing you to do anything.
The first topic I will touch on are the small maps, and the right weapons to use on them.
We currently have a small variety of maps to play on, but they are no means scoffed at. Think of these maps as training grounds for the thousands of map we'll have to deal with come the expansion that eventually makes these said maps possible to play on.
Communication, Biomass, skyfire. All three of these maps are Tilted drastically in the CQC side of things, but people still insist on using weapons that are simply ineffective. The assault rifle for example. Everyone uses it. But when thrown into one of these maps, you wont really make a difference unless you're really good with it. or maybe you just to know how to aim long enough to steal some kills so you can jump to the top of the leader boards. Which ever, it doesn't matter.
There are exceptions, but if you are using the Assault rifle on these maps is just simply is not the best way to play on these maps. Which is also why Heavies dominate in these tight maps. There's almost nowhere to run, and there isn't enough cover to dash behind to get away from their death rain. I know it's strange on how there isn't enough cover to get away from the foes, but it's true.
Sure, team shooting can deal with these monsters, but how coordinated are random teams anyway? not every...
How does one adapt to such a situation? That's easy, pull out a CQC weapon to counter them.
Mass drivers Shotguns Grenades HMG's Even the SMGs.
Even if you haven't speced heavily into these weapons, you really don't need to start now. Either use a militia variant, or dump some skill points to get those skills to lv 1. Doing this will open up a huge variety of styles that you probably have never fathomed possible.
Using either of these weapons will cause a heavy to think twice before before charging you with his wall of armor/ shields. Using these weapons puts you at nearly the same level of DPS as them. The use of these weapons on one of these tight maps can be the game changer your team needs to win. Just don't use the scout suit with any of these weapons, there simply isn't enough health for you to eat their shots, and they aren't fast enough to dodge them either.
Do not charge a heavy head on in these situations, bait them instead. Have your side arm out to give them a false sence of security. Once they close in, whip out that CQC master of your to finish them off.
So before you spawn in with your starter Ar fit, please look at the map you'll be playing on first, then decide what fit would perform the best in these situations. think before you leap.
Please spread the word to all of your fiends who do not frequent the forums. This knowledge to adapting is key to adding 5 more seconds of life to every clone you spawn in with. |
