we have both dance combat which i've heard other community members refer to as "tracking shooter" but we also have an equal amount of OHK or "tactical shooter".
This is currently balanced. We can't have dust go either to extreme right or left, it must remain center in between dance and tactical pvp, a very fine line to walk, which IMO is currently being walked.
Example: Dance Combat: Face of Mankind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGuUaiXRr5U vs.
Tactical Shooter: World War II Online
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpFb-EuwjfA
Bottom line is Dust is neither one of the extremes but a hybrid of both, in it's current state, and should remain so. This is what causes alot of nerf posts cause some ppl don't like the tactical shooter side of dust which should remain in existence. Else go play face of mankind all day then come back and tell us about OP weapons, because in that game there are none, all the weps suck and you fall asleep after the 4rth reload when your enemy is still at 1/2 health. You want to dance all night in dust just so you can type in chat something roleplayish..? i'm kidding but yea we don't need %100 dance shooter with dust..

You make a great point, Sobriety Denied.
What's maybe most telling is that the forums wars that raged on the topic seemed to have died down. Most of the peeps involved it those wars are still playing the game.
That's good balancing right there, i sez. |

Face of Mankind can be a nice outline for how districts can run and be owned. |

I like FOMs politics and it's an entire sandbox style shooter. If you want to experience FF in a political game FOM is the place to do it. ppl here sound totally new to the concept of FF; there's the aggressive guy- "Oh i can't wait to TK all of you!" and there's that scared guy- "waaah CCP FF will ruin this game!!"
But won't people don't realize is TKing is somewhat a novelty that for most players it wears of after a couple of days. FOm allows you to shoot at anyone you want but there are political reprecussions in place, and the more you TK the worse those get, as far as your character gets so penalyzed up to the point of perma death, but in FOM you don't have skills per say at risk to be lost, you have your reputation you built at risk, and that reputation can gain you access to upper levels of the game when your faction director decides to give you that access.
that won't stop every greifer but it put's a deterent.. there are still griefers and they mostly flock to a certain faction.
if done right DUSt could do FF justice |
