Alright can anyone tell me At LV: 5 DropSuit Command what exactly does it mean by Suit Specialzations ? i mean i got the skill mainly for making my suits to have a less scan profile, with level 5 command and dampener i have 50% natural Decrease in profile, on top of two complex dampeners which is another 50 %, so do the math my scan profile on my Recon Suit is -45 scan Profile, so i should be literally invisible when your cursor runs over me, but i am unsure how.... the scanning works on this game exactly.... so my
Real Question is How useful is it to use dampeners.....? i mean i've noticed people run right pass me when i am crouched and hiding by a door, and they come walking out, by time they know i am there they are dead.. however... ya... this is just me rambling on... but i want to know these things....
Also the Suit Specialzations .... |

I'm A Direct Action Scout , and i noticed i did my math wrong, 50 natural, puts me at what 22 something, then another 50 from complex modules dampeners thats 11.25 profile.
My style is in your Face with a sub machine gun (rocking M-512 or M-509), or i am killing ya afar with what ever sniper rifle i feel like using that day. i use my dampeners to remain undetected, and i say that i get more kills from the dampening. but i am always in a Scout Suit, nothing but Scout suits, i prefer speed, and ability on detecting target early on are my way of fighting, i am quite partial to the Tactical AR's i prefer my accuracy over quantity. |

If you like to try to ambush people with a shotgun, or do what I do sometimes and charge into a group of people for one or two kills, go ahead, but it's not an optimal (or an effective) style of play. This. I play games to have relax and have fun, not to fill some role my corpmates require and I don't like, or to min/max my character. If they don't like it, they'll either have to live with it or I'll change corp - plenty of those around.
HAHHA true that man, i also think the damn same. |

I enjoy profile dampeners.
There I've said it, the reason for this is simple (and possibly misguided) as a sniper I'm not running around shooting people, I'm sat still shooting people, and then possibly moving to a new vantage point. I think this is the tactic that appreciates profile dampeners.
On occasion I have been elevated, away from a fire fight but have spotted it going on from a convergence of reds without using scope, having scoped in and killed a few I noticed that survivors tend to not be able to spot you due to range differences and what not.
I had assumed based on this that the profile dampener makes you harder to spot on a casual basis, that is assaults, heavies etc wont spot your marker until they are much closer to you but you can spot them from a greater distance.
I also am assuming that range extenders will do exactly what they claim and make a red visible at a further distance so combining the two will mean you get a much earlier spot on Mr Red Guy and can then slot him.
is this misguided?
true but currently... you can't beat dampeners even with the highest level modules, its 20% compared to the 25% for damping so.... it will be good reason to say that....being Invisible, and having Speed, will be the Greatest traits to have as a Scout . i can say that i can pretty much lose anyone trying to pursue me while i am in my recon loadout, and just kill them after they have lost me, but there could be more variables in the future to affect how these modules work. |
