Unlike some I would say that tanks and vehicles are pretty balanced vs the current AV. Basically tanks die to AV, but to literally nothing else (heavy's have to actually worry about every gun but swarm launchers).
The millita swarm launcher could be a bit lowered in being effective (50%-75% dam of standard) to encourage people to actually buy and train stuff to take out tanks, but it still should exist for fresh meat to be able to do something against a vehicle to hurt it, and of course those free jeeps everyone gets (which should be able to be alphaed by the millia swarm launcher).
I realy got the hang of using a tank and jeep by using the keyboard for driving. And half of the controller for turrets (for some reason mouse doesn't work with super poor traverse turrets, needing to scroll it multiple times.
Being able to go first person view when driving and gunning defiantly helps, now its basically world of tanks in the future, but for some reason I can't do this with a button on the controller.
So while I can drive well using one method of control (keyboard) the way the others are done is not quite balanced and easy to use. I had to basically stop using the move remote in order to effectively tank.
One issue with the guns is that none have a decent cross-hair, or reticule for fire spread (I am not even sure if moving or doing anything else affects it). The triangles and other static runes and symbols need to go, and no a TINY dot is not a proper way to aim either (though better than aiming a long range rail-gun with a triangle)
All turrets should use the same cross-hairs for better simplicity, a big cross or X with two circles on the inside, it would add viability to where you are shooting without obstructing view. Ideally change colors based on if it is friendly or hostile (green friendly, red hostile). I am not sure if any spread exists for guns, but the spread should be viable on the outside of the cross-hairs so you can actually gauge what the effective range of a gun is based on accuracy (and if moving or getting hit has a effect, which it should). This is the... well whatever year in the future, targeting systems of the 20th century shouldn't be better than what we have now.
The tanks should be able to zoom up more, (definitely if it is the rail-gun), but until I can actually see weapon spread at a particular range I can't ever say I know if a weapon has too much or not enough range or accuracy.
Add to that, realy need to include to every gun the following statistics (not just turrets) DPS and effective range
One thing that annoys me about rail guns is needing to charge up, with vehicle powerplant, they should be able to charge in advance and stay ready (not hold-down like a suit with forge gun), the cool down and charge up should be done together after a shot (so same rate of fire), the sound is also screachingly annoying, unlike railguns in eve that just give a cosmic POW when the weapon is toggled. The damage could stay the same (yes the forge gun does disproportionate damage for its size, but infantry need to have a punch too, let theirs be more inaccurate at ranges, and need to charge up)
The current blaster should be renamed rapid blaster, and a new gun or variant of a blaster should exist that instead of a stream of pew, fires a big bolt of plasma that after a short range falls into the ground (and highly inaccurate to prevent sniping with it) and explodes. A short and wide barreled gun.
Some people complain about balance and usefulness of the current tank weapons (pretty much blasters are the norm for small guns, and maybe even large guns, most tanks shooting me use blasters) so the other weapon systems need to suck less compared with blasters.
The heavy missile launcher doesn't seem to have much punch like a tanks guns should, though it fires allot (every 2.5 seconds). It should have reduced rate of fire (twice as long between shots), but the damage doubled. The sound should also not be a wosh wosh wosh, but have more of a deep roar to it. (and a earth shaking boom when it hits) |
