I have a character speccing into this right now. I'm with you, I wish there was a lot more information on this aspect of the game out there, but since there isn't, lets you and me figure it out for ourselves.
So every dropsuit has a base scan profile. The baseline of the assault suit (the most popular suit) is 50 DB (whatever that means). The Scout suit has a base scan precision of 45.
What we don't know is how often the scanner "pulses" or if it constantly and automatically finds pings within its range. We also don't know exactly how play actions affect their profile signature.
On a type-I, I have profile analysis 3 and an advanced precision module. This gives me a combined total of -30% of the base scan precision. So 31.5 is my scan precision.
Lets give the average assault suit Dropsuit Command 3, netting them 15% reduction of their profile. 42.5 Meaning if they are in range, I should be able to see them on my radar. I also have range amplifying stuff on my suit, netting me 60% increase of range, which is base 25m. So right now my scan range is 40 meters.
I can tell you that right now, I can scan out snipers in their hidey holes. No one has yet to walk up on me while I was hacking something without my knowledge.
Still putting more skills into it. We'll see if this build works. |

I have met players who are running dropsuit 5 and profile dampening 5. on my type 1 scout with lvl 4 precision and 1 advanced precision enhancer, I can't see them unless they are literally right on me.
Also, the first ring in your radar is 25 meters. Your welcome. |

Yes, very much so. With maxed out skills and no modules, your pretty much impossible to light up without being directly on them. |
