Make a skill tree for the sniper class, with things like ;
- Scope xRange - starting with x0 range, and building up to a max of x4 range.
- Ballistic acceleration - How long the bullet takes to hit the target.
- Aim stability - starting with a nearly impossible to aim gun, to full stability.
- Reload and loading time - Starting with a super slow loading time, to a much faster one.
This way sniping will became an "Specialist " class, and only the best people will be very good at it.
What you think ? |

EDIT: Make a paper count the weapon that killed you, put in the columns: AR, SR, Other. Play about 20 battles and check the results. My guess (as I haven't actually done this): AR: 75%, Other: 20%, SR: 5%. Based on the results, I suggest making AR a "specialist" weapon, so you need a good 30 days worth of skill points to fire it. |

Hey, i have no problem with snipers too. I find them more an "inconvenience" then anything else. 
But still, I do agree that sniping should be an "Art" that you need to master. That way, you'll respect the guy that just killed you with a "Masterful" shot. |

As a sniper, the gun that kills me the most is probably an AR of someone who sneaks around behind me.
Snipers are easy to take care of, you just can't expect to run out in the open and expect to sneak around.
Also, this is pretty much how it is set up. ( I may be wrong on name and values but this is just going off rough memory )
There is a skill for Light Weapon Sharpshooter which increases the max distance by 3%
There is the reload skill. I think extra 3 or 5% speed per level?
There is a skill to reduce the sway of the rifle.
Not sure if there is a skill to zoom in more, but who really needs it? |
