We've all been there, our clone reserves are 001 to 005 and only because of a quick turn around but our whole team is on the field. We hit 000 and the game is over, there is 7m left in the match. For certain matches or in general a rule should be in place for Last Man Standing, where as long as there is 1 guy on 1 team still alive and there is time on the clock, the match continues. go from 000 to 005 to a turn around and pull a last minute win out of your butt. 1 man vs 20 running around the map nova knife assassinating people for that victory people will be talking about for months. Obviously some more work would need to be put into the concept but I think its a fair start.
Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for, against, or to improve this idea? |

To review:
*Even after the clone counter hits 000, the battle continues until all remaining clones are killed (killed, suicide, leave battle, etc) or until time runs out, which ever happens first.
With 'time running out' ending the match its unlikely that someone can just "Run the clock" so there should be no need for map shrinkage.
As a preference, but not necessary pers'e.. when you enter Last Man Standing mode, I would like a prompt to appear on the screen. Similar to "Enemy is Hacking CRU" I want "Enemy has Entered Last Man Standing Mode"
*Agreed, fallen team mates should be allowed to spectate the match when Last Man Standing mode activates.
*If you're in skirmish, last man standing mode only lasts until the MCC is destroyed, or can only be triggered if the MCC is still alive.
*Bonus' could potentially be awarded for excellent performance in Last Man Standing mode. Extra SP (minimal), extra WP, Higher Salvage percentage, etc. While not necessary is a possibility.
*If a spectating mode can successfully be implemented this can potentially open the door for replay modes and then saved replays. (A feature some fps have that I enjoy, sharing those greatest moments) -Imagine, with 7min on the clock Last Man Standing mode was engaged for one team who evened up the numbers, with 5m on the clock it came down to 1v1 Mutual Last Man Standing. A epic battle that begs to be shared.
Everyone's input is appreciated. Lets continue to improve on this idea until it looks attractive enough to the devs for implementation. |

Moonracer2000 wrote:The main problem with this sort of mode is keeping the players who can't spawn in any more entertained. Worst case scenario you are staring at the map for five minutes while one blueberry plays hide and seek with some reds.
A spectator mode would help (and I would enjoy that), but would it be enough?
*Obviously that is a problem, more so on Skirmish than Ambush. And a fix, or work around to prevent that will be necessary. Sadly I can't think of one at this time but am open to suggestions.
As for spectators, perhaps allowing them to cycle through pov locations, like looking through security cameras. Most people I play with use skype or some other form of communications for their teams. So even if spectating there is the possibility that they can coach or give directions. As the locations they can see out of are fixed (though they can cycle through different fixed positions), it becomes a bit more realistic as opposed to a floating invisible camera. That was used in games like old Unreal Tournament.
Again, still needs some work, but I appreciate your input. |
