hello,
I propose being able to buy upgrades for the weapon itself. Make a little fitting section for the weapons in which you can put different scopes extended magazines, etc. This would play a huge role when skills are applied to the whole set . so you would have you weapon upgrades on the suite but the weapon could have weapon sight stabilizer (in the case of the sniper), extended mag for sub machine guns, etc. These would be purely utility and not damage because damage mods are already on the suits.
As requested ill give examples of what could be put on weapons and how it could be implemented:
- The weapon itself could have powergrid and cpu or calibration point (EvE online equivalent for rigs)
- Scopes- scopes should help view the path of the ammo so if you where to use a shotgun and wanted a scope you couls have a set of rings like a target showing the spread at different distances or if you where using a sniper it would be good for the scope to tell you how far the target is. Or if you use a mass driver a scope that shows damage radius on the floor depending on angle ( like a bomber and of course with heavy skills)
- Magazines - extended magazine, magazine that permit faster reload, magazines that permit larger ammo but less.
- Ammo - a big staple in EVE online is being able to use different ammo types, even today they are making innovative ammo explosive shotgun rounds that explode at different ranges, etc imagine what would happen in a future such as eve.
Incendiary ammo, armor piercing, or even ammo that passes a certain amount of targets (snipers will try and get double kills :P)
- Triggers - hair triggers for less delay between shots safe to say automatic weapons don't need this but lets say pistols with a slightly better RoF because of the trigger equiped.
- Barrels - better rifling for better accuracy, The magnum 500 has slits on the end to divert gasses upward at the end of the muzzle to prevent the gun from going up when shot.
- weapon holds (whatever it's called) for a controlled kick
- Equipment for secondary fire, like adding grenade capability to the assault rifle (limited to 1 or the mass driver will not be used as much)
