Im writing this because im still a bit in a shock.
I just had a situation where a player drove a tank, stepped out of it to run off so i take over. Apparently the player returns, chased me with blue on blue fire (!) and after the match sends me a very offensive and non so eloquent email.
Im used to have silly situations online. But never really got cussed at in a manner like this without having any harmfull intent myself.
Which made me think of what we can expect of the Dust 514 community. For im starting to realize it will be getting no where close to the Eve Community. Will people like this end up deciding the community or are there more positive views ?

Most of the vets will tell you we're an odd community of love and hate. But most of the hate is really just trolls and there's no hard feelings.
The new berries I can't speak for - there's assholes no matter where you go. But I'd vouch for this community being a good one. |

Real talk...you shouldn't steal peoples tanks. No matter what happens with the future of this game people will never be happy about this scenario. Argue it on either side of the fence until you are blue in the face but it won't matter. Tank drivers get mad about someone stealing their tank. Others say they deserve it if they get out the drivers seat. |

Ive done a lot of stuff in eve. And really there's a bigger "deal with it" additude all round. But if someone ejects from their vehicle and runs off it's hardly stealing. But thats not my point, even if it was stealing. I do love some trolling myself but never been as rude to someone by calling them what-nots.
In my experience we'll end up in Dust as a bunch of zitty Counterstrike players from Holland wishing you god knows what kind of illnesses. And i dont think im off that far. But well see i guess

If you're already being pessimistic you're free to go play every other mindless shooter out there. you only had ONE BAD RUN IN and you're already questioning this community. And your bad run in was over stealing a tank whose cost you probably know nothing about.

I think your the ******* for not giving him his tank. I drive tanks and its easy for you to complain while the other person is putting 500000 isk on the line. We dont spend the money so somebody can screw around with it like a toy. There are things i let go but when somebody steals my tank IM PISSED! |

"Its new eden...deal with it" tbh I can identify with this. Just don't be suprised if you get hate mail over it. Its early in the build so the tank u took off with was prolly a militia fit. Just keep in mind that tanks get VERY expensive. Had it been a well fit gunlogi it would prolly have been an entire series of hate mails. |

Especially if you abandon your stuff then who's the ****** ?
Still theres reason enough to be thinking Dust will not be remotely close to Eve for its way too expendable. |

I wasn't aware you could steel ships in eve? that's awesome.
Otherwise why would you compare the two games communities who have two different genres? Lookin' at the console FPS community like CoD would be more accurate then EvE's for DUST. |

I personally prefer the fact that the DUST community is more upfront, more forthright, about what they feel about what's happening.
I can't say much about EVE since I've only played a trial account for a week, but if it isn't typical for someone to go ballistic and start acting irrational after they have the equivalent of a tank in DUST taken from them, then I assume because since your interactions with other players is everything in the universe, etiquette demands you do not endanger these relationships over such petty things.
However, that's not the case in DUST. We are on the ground, covered in dust, running for our lives, every corner we turn brings a risk of death, every jump we make runs the risk of landing on something that doesn't like to be jumped on. Relationships exist between dropsuits and bullets. Beyond that, we communicate to ensure victory. Mercenaries do not prance about sharing tanks.
There is meant to be disgust in the eyes of capsuleers when they watch us fight it out brutally on the ground, with no eloquence, no political manipulation, no grace. There is meant to be entertainment. We are gladiators, they are the kings. I wouldn't be surprised if friendly betting starting occurring over us. Imagine it. DUST fights becomes the horse racing of our world.
But essentially, our communities must be different. This, I feel, is paramount. |

If I may, it should be extended to other custom fitted vehicles as well.

I'm with Rapidea on this, if you're going to bring a tank into a game (especially a public game) then you should fully expect to lose it. Don't fight in what you can't afford to lose.
The real question here, is why would someone ever be stupid enough to 'leave' their expensive tank in a match? Surely, they deserve to have it stolen? Did he really think that in a public match somebody wasn't going to hop in for a joyride, especially with so many new players who probably have no concept of the cost of gear?
I think you should name and shame the guy who's tank you stole. |

Correction you shouldn't steal your teams tank's, if the enemy are so foolish as to leave one unattended however go for it |

Post the hate mail on pastebin (not the forums lol mods) and provide us with a link or pastebin key word.
Also never eject from a tank, lol. |
