So I don't know how much SP the higher skilled teams had before the reset, but could somebody do a rundown of how things evolved meta wise for pub and/or corp matches prior to the reset. I joined about a week before and was pretty ignorant of what was going on as I was learning.
What was the average cost of suits people were bringing to pub matches?
Was the 3+1 rock paper scissors of assault/vehicle/AV + support balanced or leaning in a certain direction?
How advanced were support tactics getting? Theoretically you can get lots of mines on the field, or dozens of nanohives and uplinks. Was this happening?
Were maps normally hitting their vehicle limit?
Is there a concept of 'signal warfare' that developed with people stealthing around and others spawning active scanners to compensate?
I'm sure I'm missing lots of other pieces, but a nice lesson would be interesting and educational. Thanks. |

They handed out SP and free gear like candy. You got 1 million SP just for logging in and playing a game on some weekends.
At one stage, above advanced tier tanks were available on the market. In the E3 build I think.

First build was an absolute mess. No lock-on required for swarm launchers, infinite militia vehicles, unkillable heavies etc. Next came the Breach variant craze, unkillable scoutsuits due to hitdetection and insane strafe speed. Then tank spam. These all came with quick nerfs as it was clear they were OP. I can't think of any other OP item of the week.
The average cost increases as the amount of SP people have increase. People tend to take Tier 1-2 items in to pubs, until everyone hits critical mass and its full on proto suits.
It seems decently balanced, however vehicles are a must and a well manned vehicle always comes with support, AV and assault backing it.
I would say it was in closed beta. I didnt really run out of ammo. When people were mounting a full on assault at C, you could see nano-hives from both teams being thrown. Same thing with uplinks, the objective may be taken but there was bound to be one tucked away in a corner for the enemy team to respawn.
It only very rarely happens for me. If there is a really big map yes, otherwise no.
I'm not sure what you mean, no. |

Also there were lot less maps. At one point there was actually only one map to play on for skirmish. |

tbh i would say they were all different. in one of the builds we were getting 4x the SP and lots of isk so everyone was running prototype stuff, then in another build (after a wipe) the isk was reduced a lot so people dint bother too much about proto stuff.
This build seems to be quite generous on ISK but tight on SP so i think people will crack out proto suits but may take a bit longer
Also as a note, i feel people splashed aurum a lot more in previous builds as they knew they were getting it back |

As far as signal warfare goes, I'm thinking scanning profile/precision/range will get more important as defenders will want the best advanced notice of an assaulting team. Having a couple seconds warning in order to take cover would be crucial. Offense who may sacrifice an armor module for a dampener in order to put their profile under the threshold of mosts' scan precisions means a little better (and faster) sneakiness. I feel like the ewar/signal side is harder to notice at the moment, but once you pay attention it could be really important. I think it should be referred to as a form of tanking as there is such a thing as 'signal tanking' in eve. |

Begin reading the earliest forum post that you can find. You might not discover the secret archive from before June 30th I think it is, but you can start there.
Read all forum posts from that point onwards.
You will then find an answer to your question. |

You missed the best one, the build that turned the Tactical Assault Rifle into an Automatic 750 rpm killing machine, fun times.... |

I'm not sure what you mean, no. well imho it was not bad beside some minor things like swarm launcher damage against infantry, breach AR and drop ships on building... |
