I'm not sure but something seemed off tonight with the HMG. It seemed to take a lot more ammo to take someone down not sure if the hit detection is off or something else.
Not sure if it affected any other weapons, I tried the AR and it seemed to have a similar issue but less noticeable.
I spoke to my corpmates and they all agreed something was different.
Is anyone else experiencing this???
I'm just checking before I post this in Technical.

Iron Wolf Saber wrote:We (IRC folks which is btw open to anyone) where in a discussion with [CCP] Wolfman about the HMG last night and discussed the various possible softer nerfs that could be applied to encourage the use of the AR over the HMG for long range engagements and to further encourage the training of heavy weapon sharpshooter.
I think the one thing everyone somewhat agreed with, was reduce accuracy/optimal but keep the overall range. (similar to how a laser rifle sucks ass at short range hmg would be the opposite)
However... [CCP] Wolfman did not mentioned any of his own ideas or his feelings about the weapon at all. If he did nerf it at least he listened to the Rubber mallet not a sledge hammer part.
[CCP] Wolfman is also looking at Skytt's chart of wonderfully flattened weapons, the suggestion for there was shift more damage out of skill points and more into the weapons themselves.
Last item discussed was swarm launcher behavior, he is going to see about making it possible to shake a swarm off a bit easier if you're good at driving an lav or flying a drop ship. As well as fix the missiles that hit objects very early and don't explode.
When onto vehicles we discussed that railgun small and missiles both where underwhelming no longer had a place on the battlefield. No good solutions where really offered on the subject because we have no idea of full intentiol role other than to make the missile launcher the poor shots choice and balance it with damage being very weak while making small rails hurt like hell because of the difficult aim.
Interesting stuff, certainly if there has been a reduction on the HMG it would definately have been a tweak (I'll check today as I didn't make it on last night) which is good I prefer gradual steps to big swings of the NH. I will be interested to how the HMG come heavy topic progresses as I felt recently the game was becoming more balanced as the newer guys skilled into their ARs and got greater accuracy and damage.
I am still only using the basic HMG as most of my skillpoints are going in AV from now, and seeing the average joe sporting a GEK is becoming more common which I think is helping to offset the issue. However I do worry as the last time we had a tweak to the HMG once everyone else got their Proto gear I stopped being particularly effective as the AR outclassed the HMG, maybe not in DPS but in the ability to get a lot more higher damage rounds on target at close range in a fleeting engagement.
If the accuracy were to be reduced but not the range (which seems fair enough as bullets travel a fair distance) it would suggest to me that the HMGs role should be a up close meat grinder or area denial weapon but with the current damage per shot and cyclic rate it really isn't. If you were to up either of these skills you would need to increase the size of the hit area by say 10-15% but with the accuracy rating dropped it would create a beating zone rater than a wall of death. Although all of this would need to be tested.
Another item to point out in this debate is the upcoming Scrambler rifle and Plasma cannon. The Scrambler rifle could easily become a heavy killer depending on it's stats and range but I think that there's a good chance of it becoming a Battle rifle/Marksman type weapon. Also there is a rumour that the Plasma cannon will be a light class weapon which in itself is fine but if it has a large enough splash and damage output it becomes a heavy killer as well, now while I had a discussion with another player who said that the heavy could easily just slap on a couple of damage modifiers and out damage the rest of the field I responded by pointing out the serious lack of slots on the heavy suit including the lack of equipment slot and lumbering speed, so he responded about the armour capacity but I pointed out it's unlikely to be enough to survive a direct hit much like the FG at which point he actually conceded to my surprise.
There seems to be a push to put the heavy type equipment into the AV role and little else at the moment, at least thats the feeling I get. I'll admit if I wanted to I could equip an AR or LR instead of the HMG but I like having a big ass gatling gun it's really cool but if it does get tweaked down it will most likely be relegated to the armoury except for a couple of diehard fans. Hopefully there will be some heavy love coming soon but I doubt it.
All negativity aside I am really enjoying the Beta it's a very different game from anything I have played before and I hope to continue playing for a long time to come. Also @ Iron Wolf Sabre sorry for being a nonce but what's this IRC thing you mentioned I'm not really a hardcore gamer or EVE player so I'm not always up to date on the lingo.
