It's not so much that the Gek is OP (which it certainly is not, as pointed out above) but it's the fact that the person using the Gek took a bit of time to spec into it, therefore they are more experienced with the game.
I personally am glad more players are taking out their Geks. I am getting tired of being insta-killed by militia and exile AR's, but I can appreciate being insta-killed by a Gek because I know the player is risking some ISK/Aur on their suit to use it.
The weapon flattening is pretty lame, there really isn't much reason to choose the Gek over standard, but it does make sense to go from standard to Duvoll (which is wrong). Needs to go back to 30-33-36. |

Percentage bonus are multiplied not added, so it's worse then the 55% people add up by adding bonus together
Honestly, I am not understanding the math here. Why is there a 100 there? Shouldn't it start with a base of 1? Pretty sure all our weapons arent getting a +100% damage boost by default. At 1.0 without any damage mods, a Gek at 32.5 Hp would be a Gek with 32.5 HP. Add a 10% complex damage mod and it is now 1.1
With 3 complex mods, weaponry lv5 and proficiency at lvl5, shouldn't it look like this?
1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.1 * 1.15 = 1.683715 which = roughly 68% above the base damage multiplier of 1
68% makes a whole heck of a lot more sense than 168%. In my current setup, if I stack a Gek with two damage mods + weaponry at lvl5, I get an additional 33%. So my Gek goes from 32.5 HP to 43.225 HP.
If I use Ten's math, my Gek would have a 133% damage multiplier at 75.725 HP (32.5 * 1.33) + (32.5)
Sorry, but I really doubt this. Your saying my Gek should shoot out bullets as damaging as a standard scrambler pistol? I've used the scrambler, and I've used my Gek with two 10% mods many times, and I assure you I am not putting out 75 HP a bullet.
There is not a huge difference difference between using my Gek with two 10% mods vs an alt character with no skills in AR damage at all. Because I am still able to bring down an enemy with a 100% militia frontline suit just about as fast. The difference between 75 HP a bullet vs 31 HP a bullet should be a lot more noticeable, wouldn't you think?
Sorry, to totally debunk your theory. The percentages for the damage mods are definitely broken, but not THAT broken

you are a moron yes its not 160some odd% more its 60someodd% more OR as the guy you were quoting was saying from ONE HUNDRED PERCENT DAMAGE it scales to ONE HUNDED AND SIXTY SOME ODD%
beacuase the gun has 100% and gains 60someodd% = 160someodd%(note not 55%gain or 155%) or instead of it being .6the original......you know what Im just gonna TLDR this

YOUR NAME HERE was claiming that somebody had nearly 100 HP a bullet on their Gek due to stacking. I made a reply and basically stated that somebody would need a suit with about 20 high-power slots to accommodate 20 complex damage mods to reach 100 HP per bullet from a Gek.

So then I replied with the post you haphazardly attacked, showing that it is at most a 68% bonus and NOT a 165% bonus.
Also yes, the gun technically starts at "100%" and gains percent. But 100% is represented by a 1 in a mathematical equation, not 100.
