Reading some comments, I have a feeling quite a few of you are going to disagree with me, but I'll throw my opinion out there anyway.
I really, really don't like the new AR sounds - I haven't heard any other guns yet, but I've been playing for about 15 minutes and I'm not talking about the audio glitches, the assault rifle just sounds like a toy gun, I don't understand how people see this as an improvement? Don't get me wrong, I love CCP, they're amazing devs who strive to make this game perfect and I totally understand what they've done is to make this new gun sound more 'futuristic' which it does in many respects... but honestly - it sounds like a low toned "pew pew pew".
I want my guns to sound real, to have some awesome kick, to feel like I'm on a genuine batteground, hearing the echo's and a sound that's intimidating. Right now, it's no where near that. I hope some of you understand where I'm coming from, even if you do disagree. |

Kagehoshi - I understand that it's a plasma gun, I also understand that it's the beta... but I seriously hope this is not the final sound. It needs to feel a lot more aggressive, it really sounds like something from a PS2 game. I'm not fan of the term 'Realism' because it'll never be real... haha. But it should sound Good, not mediocre.
Stefan, the sound designer posted somewhere and said there'll be a big sound improvement in the final release, I'm guessing they're just testing it. But right now, it doesn't feel as immersive as it |

Protocake JR wrote:I agree with you, actually. It sounds cheap to be honest. But I'm sure that's because of some sound limitations. I don't think we can ever expect the quality of sound like in Battlefield 3.
I want the plasma AR to have a ***charging/metallic/magnetic sound as a base (because of the components creating a magnetic field) followed by burning and sizzling sounds because you're spewing HOT FREAKING PLASMA EVERYWHERE.
Currently, the blasters in small blasters and AR sound like tiny little drums being hit at 750 bpm.
*** This description sounds like the rail gun. However, I would describe the rail gun as more of a winding, grinding, electrical sound.
You're correct. I like the description also, unfortunately it'll never match up to Battlefield, but who knows? 2 or 3 years give or take? Haha |
