Was there a matching set of DUST matches with mercs on Vellaine III fighting a holding action while waiting for the extraction ships to make groundfall?
(I figure it's unlikely, and it would have to be "called" based on a normal match since there aren't any of those art assets or proper game mode in the program yet, but it doesn't hurt to ask.) Horribly unlikely. And even if there was there's a good chance 90% of the players had no idea what was going on. |

So, right now the instant battles are shifting around to reflect the unrest in New Eden. Every week or so, they'll shift to match up with live events. For this first Event in the uprising storyline, there was no representation in DUST other than mentions of mercenaries in the news.
However, there are plans in place to ensure that there will be physical DUST events that mercs will be able to involve themselves in. These will come in the form of rolling battles, set up in contract form by involved parties.
Initially we're going to test the waters with this type of thing, until we're comfortable enough to move on to larger things, pending player participation and available manpower and ingame assets.
Hope this answers your question |

Over the next few months, the storyline of New Eden will be evolving in such a way that it effectively dovetails the two games together in one persistent, growing universe. There will be events in both DUST and EVE which will reflect this.
The two games are very much entwined, and are intrinsically linked via backstory already, but we still have a very strong focus on bringing them even closer together.
The vision is a single living, breathing, sci-fi universe, that can be viewed through two windows. These two windows are DUST and EVE, which provide two very different views of New Eden through which players can interact with one persistent universe.
In terms of events, the DUST team are working very hard to put together a solid experience for those players who are interacting with New Eden through DUST, and are collaborating very closely with the EVE Live Events team (which I lead) to make sure that things sync up and people have an awesome experience as we bring the two games closer together.
In EVE, we've nicknamed these kinds of ingame happenings "Live Events", and they've been running in various forms since EVE's early days with various breaks along the way.
We'd like to bring them to DUST too, and we'd love for every one of you to get involved and help in shaping New Eden's storyline.

Join the "Live Events" channel to watch for news. While I'm not in game right now my EVE pilot is and someone there reported that the instant battles have shifted to Autama IV. My pilot is currently in orbit monitoring comms and watching the scanner.
Thanks for the update Falcon. |

I believe that we mercs need to start thinking of ourselves and marketing ourselves as not in conflict with our space faring bretheren but as descendants of a common anscestor to whom we more faithfully point back toward. Capsuleers and empyreans descended from planet dwelling men who emerged through the eve gate and colonized space. Many then grew too proud.
But the reality is, they didn't colonize the emptiness of space. They colonized the masses between the emptiness. We are the guardians of those footholds, safe havens, homeworlds, and rich bountiful lands. We are the children of the terran race who point toward a better future for all. We cannot let factuous bickering between empires degrade the progress that we have made.
We should rise up and remind the universe of the importance of the planets from which all living beings came. We are the land-dwelling guardians.

I want epicness =~
I-¦ve been wanting it since i joined EVE in 2007. I read all the stuff about Incarna and Dust just counting (and recounting -¼-¼) till they were there. I bought the damn ps3 just to play Dust.

I've read all 3 books and this is very exciting stuff. game modes set up as contract types will really give this game depth and variety. it will also let us craft our own experiences. this sounds like an extraction game mode where you have to get the 'friendlies' out of a hot zone. if so you just added yourselves a bunch of new fans. skirmish and ambush variations can get bland really quick..but this? this could be EPIC.
can't wait for the PVE or PVP modes where our mercs can try to accept contracts on the lives of random CEOs, or prominent NPCs like Muryia Mordu, Empress Jamyl and maybe even Heth. hope you have some 'single life' no respawn game modes on tap. would really add to the suspense and excitement. |

We used to have a Volunteer team for EVE Live Events, but it was disbanded several years back. The decision has been made that we'll be keeping all ingame Event organization and acting internal using CCP Employees. |

The new game modes are a very interesting suggestion. It'd be cool to see an extraction mode, or skirmish/ambush.
However, in terms of backstory, a single life event wouldn't make much sense for immortal clone soldiers

agree there. unless of course one mistake meant you woke up in your clone back on the war barge. [wink! ] while we know it can't be in the majority of game modes, maybe one single-death mode just for a change of pace? respawn dominates FPS and u guys are the one dev that takes chances and does something different.
either way these modes have us really excited! |

If there is no local CRU or mCRU, then it is single-life. Getting from Point A (grab-point) to Point B (extraction) within a time-frame, with little support and with no (m)CRUs handy ... could be fun. |

totally agree with that. would be really skill based too. say it was PVE: send a 4 man team of Seraphim Mercs in to snatch an NPC or assassinate one of these CEOs or politicians and see if they can deal with the guards, take out the target and then get out? in one life? if u got killed you would have to watch in the 'dead room' a la socom? would be exciting! |

u could do pvp as well. one side could accept the kill contract and the other could protect the npc. go with a time limit before the facility got locked down or something.
just make sure u dont show either side who accepts the contracts. 2 many people will be scared to go vs imps, pfb,si, lotis and other major corpz. |
