yeah, here's the problem with your espionage and sabotage, and theft(don't act life its some kind of heroic achievement. you're just stealing from someone else's hard work because you're spiteful that they have more than you)
FPS players go: Damn, well, mark that guy, put him on a blacklist, restart the corp, and watch him to find out which master he serves, login to eve, and do the exact same while pulling the con in dust as well, break him. at least that's how I go.
In EVE, was in my 2 week free trial, met a nice guy who said he had found some kind of container and noticing I was a newbie thought I could use it more than he could, such a nice player. it flagged me as soon as I touched it, he killed my ship, and then left my pod untouched, claiming that it was some kind of lesson while his flunkies(in starter ships as well) picked apart the corpse of my ship.
Did that break me? no. I got back to the station, got in my... I can't even remember the name of the thing now, battlecruiser, battleship, bat'leth? most heavily armed ship a freebie has the ability to fly. I had been learning the skills to use it, loaded the little bastard up with lasers, and left the station. one by one, I hunted down all his little buddies, tore them to shreds, turned their pods to ash. got some lovely hatemail. eventually, the guy found me and came after me again, predicted as such, thought it would take him less time after I started killing the little kittens.
Turns out there are white knights in EVE, and they wanted this guy dead for hassling newbies (who knew?) Dropped a hint as to his little plan for revenge (I made the same run every day for a couple days at around the same time) so I start puttering along my little route, he shows up on the leg of it that takes me through low-sec "ambushes" me(is that still the right word?) I open fire and call in the cavalry. it was short. left him in his pod, and told him he should have finished the kittening job next time, or he'll get someone like me again.
I miss playing EVE, but at the same time I don't. Unyielding vengeance is tiring, and stops being fun when you realize that in order to fight monsters, you had to become the bigger monster. |
