I'm actually in amazement at whoever it was that thought up this idea, wrote down the stats, implemented it in the game, and expected it to pass.
There is absolutely no benefit, purpose, or advantage to using this weapon. The range is awful, the damage is usually surpassed by the default melee EVERYBODY ALREADY HAS, and it's armed with an amazing charge feature, one that doesn't even let you SPRINT while active.
The only way to get kills with this weapon is to kill Snipers and hacking players who have absolutely no intention to pay attention to their surroundings, SOMETHING YOU CAN ALREADY DO TWICE AS FAST WITH A GUN.
You don't just get 'assassinate' people with this thing. You have to WALK up to them with it, because you can't sprint, you have to CHARGE it, and then, only then, can you deal damage, but don't worry, because the damage has awful hit detection, is extremely short range, and makes a ton of noise.
A player using Nova Knives accomplishes absolutely nothing by doing so. They're absolutely a waste to their team, contribute rarely anything when they aren't hacking, something we all do anyway, and they feed the enemy.
Are there good Nova Knifers? Yes, but that doesn't matter. Somebody with a gun could do what they're doing, KILLING ENEMIES, and do it in less time, more easily, and with a much higher rate of success.
In short, this is an absolutely broken weapon, and it needs an incredible amount of buffs before it reaches the point of being a worthwhile alternative to other sidearms. |

I was wearing a Militia Heavy (for the uninitiated, it is not a real Heavy Suit) and some Scout comes bouncing up to me with their Nova Knife a glowing. It was pretty and I aimed my target reticule on it. Squeezed some rounds and stripped nearly everything away from them before they bounced away.
THEN! The genius of geniuses switched to a Scrambler Pistol and came back at me. Shields and armor at the same levels of course. The only weapons O' Scout Of Limited Realization had equipped was the Nova and Scrambler. What a maroon.
I could have died laughing. But, the Scout did first and it was good.
I have requested to let Heavies make necklaces of the emblems pried from the Nova Knives we have removed from the ashen hands of the no longer bouncing Scouts. I am still hopeful. Please do not spoil my dreams. |

This post made me chuckle.
OT: I was only killed once by Nova Knives and that was while I was hacking an objective, and yes, the lack of hit detection when melee'ing makes it nigh impossible to score a good kill with it. But, even so, this isn't a game where you go Rambo with a knife in the middle of a firefight.
Someone needs to make a "If you bring Nova Knives to a gun fight, you're gonna have a bad time" meme ASAP. |

Maybe the player who manages a Nova Knife Kill should get some bonus and some special ingame message for all to read..
Something like: "Player" got Nova Pwnaged!!
And get some special goodies like rare tanks and uhm maybe half a mill ISK per kill :)) |

Its supposed to be a humiliation weapon. Dont act like it should be some sword. If you are trying to use a humiliation weapon in open combat then whatever happens is your own fault. |

Nova knives are sidearms. Melee damage mods/skills do not affect their charge stats, and the melee damage is the same as any other weapon. Do yourself a favor and go B-series scout with melee mods if you want to one hit kill heavies with a backtap. |

No duh.......
Thats why its a humiliation weapon. By definition a humiliation weapon is a weapon that should never be able to kill someone because it is so weak thus the death is a humiliation to the person who died. Its not supposed to be an insta kill weapon. This is like dying in MAG from getting hit by a flashbang when someone threw it and you had low life (or counterstrike for that matter). |

Don't let Macin Toch see this thread. He's a Nova Ninja, early in the beta he made it his goal to make the nova knife work and he had to change his entire gamming style to do it but if you ever go up against him with his buffed proto knifes just run so he can stab you Brutis style. |

Lol. Yeah.
I think the Nova knife will start to shine with the introduction of cloaking and speed modules for infantry.
That's when we'll see those guys from Spec Ops: The Line. Then maybe Nova knifers will be considered as a "guy that can seriously f*** you up"

Being able to be cloaked still doesn't make Nova Knives any better though. You can still default melee. They probably will buff the melee damage in general, or hopefully remove that dreadful charge time.
I think the label of "humiliation weapon" might just be an unintentional side effect lol. If anything it still looks cool and it makes me feel awesome as hell when I can hold the highest score on the team. But then again... That's probably my SMG and the Nanite Injectors generating the WP... =P |

when that happends you will see 16 heavys in a circle back-back with each other and shoting at everything that looks funny or makes noises with HMG's. |
