I suggest looking into this area.
The Corp battles seem to be the only way to effect the Eve game. But those are far between matches.
the regular battle modes will be the standard method of fighting in this game. But it gives no real sense of attachment to a team. Looking at games like MAG which are similar, you have factions that your character were on and played against other factions, creating a bond with a segment of the community.
that feeling is missing in Dust 514. |

Well, I would think its because they're not set anywhere the EVE pilots can get too; I think someone said they take place out in Jove space |

First off: Because Beta
The instant matches will all take place in hisec, and will not influence Eve in any way (aside from pretty explosions you can see from space).
Corp battles occour in lowsec and definately have an impact on FacWar eve-side.
Eventually mercs will be able to fight over districts in Nullsec, potentially building Surface Infrastructure which coul d be productiuon facilities, labs, or whatever else.
Join a good corp, and ride it out. CCP's track record over the long run is pretty good. They'll keep developing the game. |

hopeing they add lotts more to game mode choices also. Its still beta so im sure it will happen. as for squad play,you get wp for doing things like rez n healing squad mates and squad leader can mark points on map that if u defend or cap yu gain wp.

Screw the team. I don't care about my team, it's the ISK I'm after. Squads I can live with. The only reason I even play as a "team" is for extra points through Logi, and the protection a large group gives. |

Our loyalty will be to those who hire us, and possibly to our corporation (if we have one, of course) and friends.
Loyalty to randoms we may never see again is pointless; use them if you can, for winning or personal/squad benefit, but don't worry yourself over them if they prove to be useless Blue-Dots. |

The issue is simple. There needs to be a team verus team mode. IT's simple. Let 4 squads join together into a group, and join an ambush or skirmish match. Then we would get to play with 16 of our friends at once instead of 8! also we could jump into games quick and get a real challenge verus a team of plaers that are all working together.
On top of that getting isk and sp for it.
Startcraft has this system even. If your in a team you go into one pool. If your solo 2v2/4v4 your put in the solo pool. So squads play only verus squads, and blueberriers play by themselves. It's the perfect matchmaking system.
I can't see why CCP is stopping us from having 4 squads verus 4 squads. The game allready can ahndle it we just don't have any tools to get 4squads together into a match together.
Until then we will never get a real sense of teamwork. |

yea i agree this isn't a PVE centric game where you "bond" with other random players their only purpose is to be farmed points off of. if they wanna step out of the random world they have to take the initiative themselves to go beyond and actually log into a recruitment thread.. the game could become kinda stupid if we were forced somehow to randomly carry these players through their match, if they wanna be lazy and play all high sec pub matches then this is the price they must pay- being stuck with other randoms. |

Sounds like a personal problem.
I really think this has nothing to do with the game, other than that a lot of the game is just sketched in right now and there is not much to do.
But even so there are some corporations that are really tight knit and goal oriented and would like nothing more than to always fight as a team. In those corporations some of the best times in DUST can be found just hanging out in corp chat or the private section of the forums shooting the kittens.
And there are other corporations that seem to be imploding even as we speak, that can be full of dissension, arguments, grudges, and bitterness.
Not bad with no access to null sec, and corporation contracts a mere placeholder in faction warfare... |

The squad leader mechanics are really clunky and annoying to use at the moment, and the leader is what holds the members together. Perhaps if there is a passive bonus for working with squad members, without the leader having to set orders. For example, I think a defence order on a squad member gives something like +10 to +20 for almost anything that gives WP? If you were to just perform those actions in the same proximity as another squad member, you'd get +5. This could reinforce the notion that your squad is a specialised subset of your team, and therefore get randomly matched squads to work together.
Or perhaps other bonuses could work with squad members. Maybe you could share ammo. Maybe some kind of link between squad members allows for armour repair when close to each other. Or a speed boost.
C'mon, lets get the ball rolling. I don't want squad members running from me like I've got a blueberry waffles. |

We're mercenaries hired to do a job with a bunch of strangers, not out of loyalty but for money. Of course there isn't much attachment to your team. If you want attachments, join a player run corp. |
