Hey guys I wanted to let you know that the CCP guys have reached out to me and are offering some prizes for a "Dust OB" orbital bombardment event.
The deal is I think CCP has given enough support here for me to expand this to include even more aspects of the Dust community. The first part that is a certainty is a recording contest for the best raw footage of orbital strikes durning a live corp match. Prizes will be awarded for the best video Eve side and then the best Dust side.
Here is where you come in. I'm going to post other options that can be added onto the Orbital Event. You can vote for as many ideas as you like (please only vote for one tournament type aka Corp or Open Teams) and I'll gauge support and work to add them to the event.
With your help we're going to turn heads with this thing and make a big splash in New Eden!!! |

Full Blown OPEN Beta tournament that would take place like the Closed Tourney. This will include brackets and will be based off of Corporations entering the tournament. The specifics will be have to fleshed out if this option proves popular. |

CHARITY DRIVE!
Add some streamers in and make proceeds go to Child's Play. Again details will have to be finalized if this proves a popular choice.
People still get prizes with this option we'll just also be reaching out to help a good cause. Remember it would be the gaming community that comes to watch the event that would be donating. We provide the entertainment with our gameplay and the viewers would donate. |

Add EVE side betting.
This one is more complicated and must include one of the tournaments, but we've got a few people in the community I know might be able to pull this off.
I think if we could allow the Eve side guys to bet on the outcomes for matchs it could really peak interest and draw some big publicity to Dust and even New Eden as a whole. (Think superbowl or FIFA World Cup with people shooting each other).
This would also have to be kept clearly separate from the charity option if that shows interest as well.
*DISCLAIMER* all betting would be with ISK.
NO AUR, MERC CODES, OR ANY REAL CURRENCY would be allow to be used to make bets. |

See the above option. Pulling this off would be VERY hard and complicated, but if enough people are interested I think we should try to make it happen.

Make it so that the winners of the tourney (and the runner up if you want to) get a prize (maybe a part of what ccp offered to you or ISK)
if youre going to use a ISK prize you could take a percentage of the dust bets and divide the ammount of money that you got and give it to the winner and runner ups |

This could definitely be an issue and something that would have to be worked out. It may as simple as saying "this is one of the rules of competing". It will be something that needs to be addressed if we end up with the Open Team option.

Just like back in school, if your captain picks you play. Does not matter who for, what alliance or corp they play for.
These battles are all about fun, getting into giant space battles with other players. If I got into a battle after being drafter win or lose I still will have fun, make new friends from other corps. Sometimes its the simple things that make players happy.

Death Race Tournament: 2 Corps arranged by Kain and Other, would pick up the first 14 players, have the winners taken into next brackets, and so on until finals.
Race would have each car team allotted 1 gunner and 1 driver (gunner can also step out and rep LAV if needed). Missle turrets are not allowed, railgun and blaster up to advanced tier one only. Dropship support allowed, 1 ship for each team. |

Open draft sounds like a lot of fun. We'd have to have a list of names and stats next to each name so captains know what they're picking and don't just stick to the players in their corp. |

Pub tournament! players will sign up individually, but that won't be the end of it.
A week prior to the tournament, we'll be randomly assigned to our team that we'll be with throughout the tournament. The week should be enough time to get to know your teammates, plan ahead, and make up a team name.Good luck!

I agree. There were some folks laying the ground work for it for another tournament idea. I'll reach out to them and see if we can get it done for this event. The interest in the betting stuff is a little low at the moment though. |
