This is somewhat inspired by the Halo 3 gametype, but it is somewhat different I assure you.
I was thinking of having a game where the attackers start out with 2-4 times as many clones as the clones defending the given installation. The installation itself, is a fort. Well fortified, only one chokepoint for the defense to worry about (with a few infiltration points that the attacker can take advantage of.
The gametype relies solely and the reclamation computer located at the heart of the fortress. if the enemies hack this, it's over. But naturally any highly valuable asset such as a computer would have failsafes. There are two sub-processors, or firewalls that must be hacked that are within the first ring of the fortress (as most fortresses have layers. Before the primary computer can be hacked, the firewalls must be brought down to enable a virus to sweep through the fortress.
Objective of the offense: Seize the fortress or depelete all enemy clones.
Objective of the defense: Deplete all enemy clones: Do not let them collect the fortress.
Now, if the enemy seems to be making a fair advance on the fortress and has made their way in, a teammate can access the central computer to set the fortress on self-destruct. At which point, the enemy team has two minutes to hack the fortress before it explodes. If the defense destroys the fortress no one wins. it counts as a loss for both sides.
Now obviously some new maps would need to be made to effectively accomodate this gametype.
Also, I've been brainstorming how to prevent allies from abusing the self destruct mechanism. I'd have to say make it hackable like everything else to stop it. Make sure that activating the self destruct and the disabling of the self destruct be awarded 0 WP. That's the only way I could think to avoid abuse.
As for the fortress, they'll need lots of turrets, lots of defense friendly choke points.
But as a Dust player, this is the sort of mercenary work I want to be doing. :) |

I would love something like this. Ive mentioned a mode like this before but it didnt go anywhere.
We are invading planets already owned by a corp right? So where are the heavily defending space ports, and the fortresses, and the cities. Im sure it will come in time. They should be difficult to crack. After all we are fighting for a whole planet. |

Something else to add to the "Invasion" Game type. If we are supposed to be wearing "DROP SUITS" Actually USE them.
Can I get a D.F. A (Death From Above) call out?
