I see in options that we can use a mouse and keyboard. And it apparently has infantry controls. What's to stop the mouse/kb guys from dominating with sniper rifles? I just obtained my lvl 5 operation with a controller but it seems like it would have a) gone faster and b) have given me an unfair advantage over controller players.

if you crouch, you don't need lvl anything sniper rifle operation. There's no sway. |

Because the good KB/M players would rather be useful and dominate with an AR on the front line. |

That and the mouse controls are so loose and imprecise that it's more accurate to use the controller half of the time. I find it especially hard to aim turrets with the mouse.
Most PC shooters have very crisp and quick response to mouse movement. It almost feels in dust the mouse controls are just a stick emulation. But I do appreciate that they are there for those who have a hard time with controllers. |

The reason for this is in the way games are designed for contorllers. Consoles use a time algorithim to find the distance moved (how far the stick is pushed and how long) where as on a PC its a linear algorithim ( what amount of distance does the mouse moves). What this causes is if you quickly move the mouse it only moves your screen a tiny bit, where if you slowly drag it you get a wider range of movement. Unless a game is directly coded to use the Linear method when using a KB/Mouse then they will be very inacurate when compared to the controller. |

Yea, it's very hard to get used to after playing PC shooters for so long. It took a much shorter time of adjustment to use a controller then the mouse controls so far. But I'll keep at it every now and again and hopefully they will make improvements to thier mouse controls.
But so far when we play a game what requires me not to fool around, I'll still be using my controller for now :P |

My feeling about this issue is that most of the time the PS3 is struggling to stay above 30 FPS when there is allot going on in the battle, where as you just spawned, the controls feel crisp and clean (KB/M), PC shooters have 60+ FPS all the time, if it drops below that, they would rather play with less graphics options, i know i would.
Whenever the FPS drops below 30 FPS the controls bog down. |
