Maybe its just me, but seeing as I come from the eve online experience and I realize you might not want to over complicate things. I don't like how the four armor types are one race each . If anything you should specialize in the four types, then specialize in a race like ships in the computer game. With pros and cons to each . Rocker paper scissors. EVE!
Though I would also be satisfied with what ever of the four suits you pick automatically change to a design of the race of that chracter you selected .
Unless I missed something . I like the looks of the heavies , the amarr, but it would be awesome to have three other variants to each that is perhaps purely superficial . Though in my mind , to be true to eve, they should be different cosmetically and in attributes . The racial skill trees in EVE really help affirm your loyalty to your race , or desire to cross train because they are sooo different . An amarr pewpew snipers and blah blah blah.
I'm not sure whether or not the game is just giving us a taste right now and there will be things like I have mentioned or your just trying to keep certain things as simple as possible . I hope not, that's the beauty of EVE, I hope it carries over to DuST.
Just seems silly that my gallente self is walking around in amarrian armor. That said I do love amarr design as well. I cross trained all four races in EVE. But not until I had got all I wanted from my gallente bloodline first.
For that matter does anyone know if damage types will be implemented? |

I was thinking the same thing too, though personally think ammar one needs more shiny armor plates, it has a bit too much texterized other stuff that is not a armored plate like a suit of heavy power armor based off a knight.
Racial variants would add much more variety than reshading the current ones, also for each tech level a racial one could have different slot layout or stats. That flavor of the month heavy type 2 with more sheilds and less armor seems much more caldari than ammar.
More stuff for later, they would then need to rename the skills to just plain scout heavy, assault and logistics. I still would like not having a separate racial skill for suits and just a skill for the base type of suit.
Bullshit lore in the future to allow this is that each race copys eachothers stuff, or makes a equivelent, because no self respecting pure ammar will use a tribal chain gun, and take reps from a tribal healer. Likewise Matar wanting to use chainguns and whatever future heavy matar guns would not be caught dead looking like a heavly armored crusader bearing iconery of slaver oppressors to be able to adhere to the brutor philosophy of war "bigger guns, better" |

Yes, I'd also like to know if this is in the works. I'm hoping that this is just the way it is in the beta...I had hoped it would be more like EVE. every race has its own version of the same class. So the heavy class would have 4 racial variants, etc. I know this would complicate things, but I still hope it's planned..
It does not fit with the lore for an Amarrian to use anything but Amarrian tech. Some might not care, but some would want the option of only using Amarr tech. No self respecting Amarrian would ever be caught dead in Minmatarian armor, but is forced to for the logi role. No Minmatarian would want to use Amarr tech, etc. it's all a mess. Lol.
But still fun, and awesome so far! |

i tell you now, more is on the way.
we are only at the four most basic suit types here for the beta, an i know there will be more.
they've already laid plans for Commander suit types, and everyone wants to see more Gallente and Minmatar thingss, just because of how unique they are going to look. Amarr is going to be really shiny too, which i think on the battlefeild makes a perfect target >:3
the continuing builds will expand the ability to customize and create. though i would like to keep racial on suits.. cause i rather like the Gallente look of smooth and sleek and streamlined. Angular Caldari only goes so far in my mind |
