Alright I used part of a post I used earlier, I will elaborate at the end, the post :
The thing is since the Newberry arrival our forums have become......well exploding with OP threads and that's crap.
Any blueberry classic knows there are many tactics and weapons to counter everything in the game atm.
The problem is everyone wants 1 class that will rule them all, instead on relying on their other team mates in different class's to lay a helping hand as they may be the counter.
That and at current most people are skilling into AR which doesn't give enough diversity to have the counters and balance like a team game should.
There's a reason why in eve every fleet has a specific fleet comp so they have a certain number of specialized ships to do 1 job and counter another fleets comps if possible.
It's all strategy and people used to the normal fps game will not understand why they need to think the battle out and not just run in holding down r1 expecting instant kills.
Elaboration.
I will only go into offense, normally I'd rather see people running around like chickens with their heads chopped off but for the sake of all the damn nerf threads and the fear that my precious game will be shat upon. here it is
Lets start with lasers. my specialty.
Lasers are area denial weapons, If my team is about to take lets say objective C, then my job is to deny that area to the enemy, how? by keeping suppressive fire so if you happen to move, you die. keeping you hiding behind cover so that you are not blazed by my lil' friend the viziam.
While you are pinned the next on the list to move forward would be the breacher, a.k.a the mass driver.
the mass driver should be throwing a flux grenade to start the party where the enemy is taking cover from the laser denying the enemys location. after the flux goes off he should do his/her job and breach an entry point, where the enemy is holding up trying to hold onto their area, so simple flux grenade then driver the area to kill off the enemy front line.
Third in should be the heavy with HMG, to wreck havoc on any remaining enemys left in the breaching point.
Fourth in should be the AR guys as main support and DPS for their specialized agents that just breached into enemy lines. along with shotgun support.
The next in should be the logistics, taking cover behind what they can and keeping the heavys and AR users alive.
Snipers main job should be to stop the enemy troops from having backups try and pile in, by pilling them off 1 by 1 as they try to rebreach the objective.
Forge gunners should be in the back to support the breaching troops in case the enemy troops have any vehicles which would inhibit a clean breach.
There is alot more to this but this is just the general idea, and it shows that each category of soldier has its place and its balance, try and think on this and how counter balances to each would work, how to counter each speciality.
I'm not going to go into defense, because, well that's mine to keep and you can figure it out yourselves.
Stop with the oh god please nerf this weapon its OP posts when you don't understand the roles in the game and want that 1 class will rule them all shooter.
Trolls welcome, this is my belief system on how it works, theres many different ways. After playing eve for 10 years I know that each specialty is there for a reason and each has its counter just like in dust. |

lol and this is the truth I'm trying to get across.
none are OP, none are win all. Used in unison, the team becomes OP.
The way I listed out is 1 of many ways and 1 of many circumstances which will constantly change depending on situation.
we all know in eve what happens with a kitchen sink fleet comp which is what we're seeing in dust right now.
The kitchen sink gets washed.

I am not hearing too much about scrambler pistol or SMG though those are backup weapons.
vehicles hate swarm launchers and AV nades, but both weapons do nothing to a drop suit.
My brother and I have both died to AV nades while not in a vehicle or close to one. |

Think gatling laser would be awesome. Could you just imagine the OP threads. Good times good times.
But I'm sure something similar will enter the game at some point.
I'd prefer to lay off the OP Nerf threads until we got more weapons, since more weapons would give even more counters.
At this point we're trying to balance and Nerf a game where more then half the items for different races haven't even been released. |

I agree fully, I'm certain some things needed perhaps small tweaks, but the nerfs have well.....Nerf hammer.
If you had a team, on comms, let's face it what Corp or alliance in eve will even let you join if you can't be on comms?
But there was nothing really OP from the beginning of dust, it still had its counters and a coordinated team would as I said before, become the only OP thing on the field.
It saddens me to see the game have this lil' rot in it because it should be balanced like such and such game blah blah. But how many other games are a fps mmo rpg? That last part is the most important
RPG. Means that you don't just have a gun and shoot and everyone is equal. It means you all have a part to play, one thing will beat something else and it comes full circle.
In eve, just because a falcon can't solo an ECCM battleship, does that make the battleship OP? Or is he in the wrong role for the job?
People are looking at this game in all the wrong ways. |

Excellent post +1 I feel that you are thinking along the same lines as myself with regards to Dust. The thing I like most about the game is that it's different in that it forces you to think about what your position in your team should be. You can't just expect to buy a better gun and suddenly you rule the battlefield (although that is what some people suggest), if you want to be effective you need to work in a team and hopefully a corp which later on I think will be basically mandatory for you want to be effective. Currently we only have limited conflicts and a handful of maps to fight in. Just imagine later on assaulting a large heavily defended refinery you won't be spawning directly into it (I don't think). You'll have to breach the perimeter and burst through choke points so someone can get a drop uplink down and call in support and faster moving troops to quickly overrun the area. To do this you will require very good tactics and troops who understand their roles. You also require specialised troops to complete these tasks and if everything is balanced into some namby pamby feelgood grey mush then these epic kind of ops will be impossible or at least boring meat grinders. I want to be punished severely if I take the wrong fitting in or mess up but in the same breath when I get it right I want to really enjoy the fact I worked and trained hard to absolutely dominate in my area. This is what I hope the game will be like. regards Snag P.S: Also if all the QQer's say the HMG/Heavy is OP how come I still on average se only 4 or 5 in a match, surely if it was so good it would be used more...... i wish more people thought this way, and honestly from all the posts this far, thanks dudes! we're def not alone in this regard. i just wish there was a sticky explaining to the newberrys that really stressed the importance of the different roles. in the videos ccp is releasing it def shows each role has its part, but people aren't getting that.
if things were better explained to the new player of dust i think we'd see a slight shift in opinion once the basis of the game was understood.

I'm a dust player too, and was #1 on kz2 for 7 months , name was nanibongwa.
I love fps far more, eve I came across and enjoyed. if you like dust, then thank the eve players for asking for a game like this for so long
Point of the post is dust is eve and same roles apply since its the same rpg, just with a fps twist.
Oh almost forgot, loved the troll lol, I giggled at the clicks haha. |

As far as killzone2 is concerned it is dead and gone. 6 feet under. Its like me saying I am good at Double Dragon .
